The chassis of the Xtension 9 consists of MDF filled with metal granules to minimize natural resonance and increase mass. Magnetic feet effectively decouple the turntable, which weighs a total of 16kg, from its floor space and allows the turntable to float, which results in a perfect symbiosis of the principles of mass drive and subchassis. The special platter of the Xtension 9 Evolution is not made of resonance-prone metal, but an in-house construction made of a special, perfectly fine-balanced cast metal alloy, which is TPE-damped and which uses recycled vinyl plates as a mat. The result is a heavy, completely resonance-free platter that slides smoothly on a magnet-assisted inverted ceramic bearing. The Xtension 9 Evolution comes complete with the high-end 9cc Evolution tonearm.
The turntable is available with or without a preset cartridge in the Xtension 9 Evolution SuperPack. Pro-Ject Audio Systems supplies its high-end turntables with premium 5-pin > RCA tonearm cables as standard, but on request also with symmetrical premium 5-pin > XLR tonearm cables. This ensures an optimal connection to the phono stage Pro-Ject Phono Box RS. The balanced connection style offers superior vinyl playback with balanced sources.
NOTE: In order to be able to use the superior quality of balanced signal transmission, both devices to be connected must have balanced connections. The balanced signal processing significantly reduces the effects of external interference.
