The Bryston BHA-1 is a high-quality, fully balanced headphone amplifier that translates the proven design principles of legendary Bryston power amplifiers into a particularly compact format. As a powerful amplifier solution for headphones, it offers exceptionally dynamic and precise reproduction and, thanks to its versatile connectivity options, is suitable for a wide variety of headphone types.

Inside, six fully discrete Class-A operational amplifiers are specifically designed for powerful and low-distortion signal amplification. Up to 2 watts of output power per channel enable effortless driving of even demanding headphones. The ample power reserves ensure high dynamic range and guarantee that musical details are precisely preserved, even in complex and dynamic passages.

A particular strength of the BHA-1 is its combination of balanced and unbalanced headphone outputs. This allows the amplifier to support both classic headphones with single-ended connectors and models with balanced cabling. Furthermore, the switchable gain allows the output characteristics to be adapted to different headphones and their sensitivity.

For maximum flexibility, three stereo inputs are available. In addition to a classic RCA input, the BHA-1 offers a balanced XLR input and a 3.5 mm TRS input. This allows for easy connection of both stationary hi-fi components and compact playback devices.

The BHA-1 can do more than just drive headphones. Its rear XLR outputs allow it to be used as a high-quality analog preamplifier. This means the headphone amplifier can, for example, serve as a central volume control for a power amplifier or active speakers.

In its design, Bryston employs a fully discrete signal path using Class A technology. The consistent focus on low distortion and high output power enables transparent and dynamic sound reproduction. The THD+N value is less than 0.005%, underscoring the precise design of the amplifier circuit.

The cooling system was also optimized for the smoothest possible operation. The BHA-1 relies entirely on convection cooling and requires no fans. This eliminates any disruptive fan noise, which is particularly advantageous during quiet music passages and focused headphone listening.

The housing is made of precision-machined and anodized aluminum, meeting Bryston's high manufacturing standards. For seamless integration into various hi-fi systems, silver or black front panels are available, as well as 17-inch or 19-inch rackmount versions. The 17-inch version can be equipped with optional rackmount brackets. Locking mechanisms for the balanced XLR connectors are available upon request.
