Bryston BP-19 – fully balanced high-end preamplifier with optional phono stage

The Bryston BP-19 is an uncompromisingly engineered high-end analog preamplifier that incorporates numerous insights from the development of the multi-award-winning BR-20. With its fully symmetrical signal path, select premium components, and an oversized toroidal transformer, it forms the basis for exceptionally precise, dynamic, and natural music reproduction.

At the heart of the design is an optimized discrete operational amplifier that achieves an exceptionally low THD+N value of less than 0.0006%. The fully symmetrical circuitry runs from input to output and uses tightly toleranced, precisely matched components. This minimizes noise and achieves excellent common-mode rejection. The result is a transparent, detailed, and dynamic reproduction that preserves even the finest musical nuances.

For integration into high-end hi-fi systems, the BP-19 features a comprehensive selection of analog connections. Two pairs of balanced XLR inputs and four pairs of RCA inputs allow for the connection of a wide variety of analog source devices. On the output side, there are two pairs each of RCA and XLR outputs. One pair of outputs is variable, while the other pair delivers a fixed output signal. This allows the preamplifier to be flexibly integrated into different system configurations.

A special expansion option is the optional MM phono stage based on the proven Bryston BP-2 circuit. This allows a turntable to be connected directly to the BP-19 without the need for a separate phono unit. The phono stage offers precise RIAA equalization, very low noise, and minimal distortion. Generous headroom reserves also ensure reliable operation with a variety of phono signals.

For owners of low-output MC cartridges, specially developed external Bryston step-up transformers are available. Depending on the model, these offer 20 or 30 dB of additional gain, thus enabling the high-quality integration of demanding MC systems.

The BP-19 also impresses with its high degree of flexibility in operation. The six analog inputs can be selected directly via the included infrared remote control or using the buttons on the front panel. HEX codes are also available for universal remote controls. Furthermore, the preamplifier can be integrated into smart home and automation systems via RS232 or IP/Ethernet.

Practical trigger outputs enable the automatic control of other connected components, such as a power amplifier. This allows the BP-19 to be used not only as a high-quality preamplifier, but also as the central control unit of a modern hi-fi system.

Bryston meticulously handcrafts the BP-19 in Canada. The high-quality workmanship is underscored by the use of select premium components and the generously sized toroidal transformer. For customized integration with any system, silver or black front panels are available in 17-inch or 19-inch widths. A professional 19-inch rackmount version is also available. Furthermore, Bryston offers customizable front panel colors.

With its combination of fully symmetrical Class A circuitry, exceptionally low distortion, extensive connectivity, and optional phono stage, the Bryston BP-19 is aimed at discerning music lovers who value the most precise and unadulterated signal processing possible. The 10-year Bryston warranty further underscores its commitment to quality and long-term reliability.
