The Sonos Amp Multi redefines the standards in professional architectural and multi-room amplification. Specifically designed for demanding custom installation (CI) projects, this compact 8-channel amplifier combines a total output of 1,000 watts (8 x 125 watts at 8 ohms) with uncompromising signal processing and a highly efficient amplifier topology. By utilizing state-of-the-art gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductors with an analog post-filter feedback (PFFB) circuit, the Amp Multi eliminates load-dependent distortion and guarantees impeccable sound fidelity, high impulse response, and maximum control over low-impedance passive loudspeakers.

Audiophile signal processing & ProTune™ calibration

The acoustic precision of the Sonos Amp Multi is due to the synergistic interplay of highly efficient Class-D amplification and active analog feedback (PFFB) after the filter stage. This circuitry compensates for frequency response fluctuations caused by varying speaker impedances, resulting in extremely linear signal behavior and a high damping factor.

For precise acoustic fine-tuning on site, integrators and installers have access to the ProTune™ software suite . ProTune offers professional users comprehensive manual adjustment options:

10-Band Parametric Equalizer: Targeted correction of room patterns, standing waves and frequency imbalances for each zone individually.

Adjustable time alignment (delay): Millisecond-accurate adjustment of signal delays to correct the phase-correct stage image in the room.

Level and zone adjustment: Fine-tuned control of input and output levels for optimal speaker matching.

Integrated subwoofer control: Adjustable crossover frequencies for seamless integration of active subwoofers per listening zone.

Multi-zone flexibility & smart home integration

The Sonos Amp Multi offers complete configuration freedom in system design: The 8 amplifier channels can be flexibly distributed across up to four independent listening zones . Each output channel can be dynamically assigned to any listening zone – from four stereo zones to combined zones with subwoofer support, all the way to complex architectural installations for expansive residential or commercial properties.

In addition to seamless integration into the Sonos ecosystem, the Amp Multi features open integration interfaces for leading home automation and media control systems (e.g., Control4, Crestron, Lutron). All sources and content can be switched without interruption, while recessed status LEDs and integrated network ports facilitate system diagnostics.

Thermal Engineering & 2U Rack Optimization

For consistently reliable operation in enclosed server and media racks, the Sonos Amp Multi relies on structured thermal management. The thermally optimized chassis utilizes the natural chimney effect in conjunction with the custom-designed 2U rack mount .

The housing design ensures a continuous airflow above and below the unit. This allows the amplifier to operate completely fanless and silently , even under high continuous loads. Additional ventilation panels (blanking plates) between the units are unnecessary, saving valuable rack space and significantly reducing installation effort. Recessed RCA, Ethernet, and speaker connectors on the rear panel also enable clean cable management. Whether in a professional 19" rack, freestanding on a countertop, or wall-mounted, the Amp Multi's minimalist design allows it to blend seamlessly into any environment.

Within a 50 km radius of one of our locations in Hamm, Hamburg or Münster, we charge a flat installation fee of €200 for the Sonos Amp Multi.
