KEF LS Luxe – Active high-end wireless speaker system with 12th generation Uni-Q® & MAT™

With the KEF LS Luxe , KEF combines over six decades of acoustic innovation with modern digital technology and expressive design. This fully active stereo loudspeaker system was developed in collaboration with renowned industrial designer Ross Lovegrove . It combines a low-resonance, organically shaped cabinet with advanced signal processing and amplifier technologies for pristine, high-precision audio reproduction.

Acoustic Engineering: Uni-Q® & Metamaterial Absorption (MAT™)

At the heart of the KEF LS Luxe is a 6.5-inch (165 mm) 12th generation Uni-Q® driver array . The point source design positions the 25 mm aluminum tweeter precisely in the acoustic center of the woofer/midrange driver. This ensures even dispersion and an exceptionally wide, stable soundstage.

Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™): A complex, labyrinthine structure on the back of the tweeter absorbs 99% of unwanted rear sound waves. Disturbing resonances are almost completely eliminated, resulting in exceptionally clear and detailed high-frequency reproduction.

Mechanical decoupling: The Uni-Q chassis is separated from the housing via a flexible decoupling system. Vibrations from the LMF drive are effectively dampened and not transmitted to the housing walls, thus reducing distortion to a minimum.

Precise signal processing and active amplifier concept

The KEF LS Luxe uses an uncompromising multi-way amplifier concept that is perfectly matched to the drivers:

Current-drive amplification: A 100-watt Class AB amplifier drives the tweeter, while a 280-watt Class D amplifier powers the woofer/midrange driver. Direct current control at the voice coils drastically reduces distortion.

Velocity Control Technology (VECO): This control system monitors the diaphragm movement in real time via integrated velocity sensors. Through a closed feedback loop, the amplifier immediately corrects any deviations between the input signal and the actual excursion. The result is extremely linear and compression-free bass reproduction.

Music Integrity Engine (MIE™): KEF's proprietary DSP algorithms have been specifically optimized for the acoustic package of the LS Luxe. They ensure consistent phase response, optimal dynamics, and tonal balance at any volume level.

Case ergonomics and room acoustics adaptation

The rounded cabinet design minimizes diffraction effects at the edges and contributes significantly to clean sound dispersion. Thanks to the extremely dense cabinet material, the internal acoustic volume could be maximized without the need for bulky bracing to reduce the interior space.

The KEF Connect app allows the performance to be precisely adjusted to the room acoustics via the integrated Room EQ DSP :

Normal Mode: Guided setup for quick, easy tuning.

Expert Mode: Detailed fine-tuning of the frequency curve in dB steps for experienced users.

Subwoofer integration: Predefined profiles enable seamless integration of external subwoofers.

Connectivity & Streaming Platform W2

The LS Luxe is based on KEF's W2 Wireless platform and offers comprehensive wired and wireless connectivity options for state-of-the-art hi-res streaming:

Streaming services & protocols: Natively supported are Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, Amazon Music, Deezer, AirPlay, Google Chromecast, UPnP and Bluetooth 5.3.

Hi-Res audio support: Processes network streams up to 24 bit / 384 kHz , DSD as well as all common lossless formats (FLAC, WAV, AIFF, ALAC).

Versatile connections: HDMI eARC for TVs, optical and coaxial digital inputs, an analog 3.5 mm jack input, and dedicated subwoofer outputs for main and secondary speakers.

Flexible connection: The signal transmission between the speakers can be either wireless (resampled to 24 bit / 96 kHz) or wired (resampled to 24 bit / 192 kHz).
