Chord Hugo
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the groundbreaking DAC 64, Chord has launched the new Hugo. Chord Hugo is the world's most advanced DAC/headphone amplifier. Based on the same FDGA DAC technology that helped Chord Electronics become an authority in digital audio, Chord Hugo is a portable DAC/headphone amplifier—a world first.
Chord Hugo's name is derived from its portability. You can use it wherever you go. Chord Hugo delivers studio-master tape sound quality, advanced connectivity, and uncompromising file playback capabilities. It's the world's most advanced headphone amplifier/DAC and the most modern DAC Chord Electronics has ever produced. It offers five digital inputs including A2DP aptX Bluetooth, as well as advanced 384 kHz PCM and DSD 128 playback for today's high-resolution DXD (Digital Extreme Definition) music files.
The Chord Hugo can be used both as a portable headphone amplifier/DAC and as a reference-level standalone DAC in a static system. It brings the renowned digital audio expertise of Rob Watts and Chord Electronics to your headphones, allowing music lovers to enjoy high-resolution music through their headphones or speakers. It offers unmatched performance and technology that is unrivaled on the market.
The Chord Hugo is ready to take advantage of modern studio-grade quality. It can decode sample rates from 44.1 kHz to 384 kHz, delivering music in true high-resolution quality. The DAC benefits from two USB inputs: one for USB devices and one for data up to 384 kHz. Two additional digital inputs, coaxial and optical, allow any connected component with a digital output to benefit from Hugo's technology. It also offers A2DP Bluetooth capability and uses a custom module with apt-X codec to pass a digital signal directly to the DAC circuitry.
In addition to 384 kHz PCM files, Hugo can also process DSD 128 data. Whether you use Mac OS or Windows, Chord Electronics provides driver software for both models.
The DAC/headphone amplifier has a built-in battery circuit and is fully charged within 2 hours.
