Yamaha WXA-70A Streaming Amplifier

The Yamaha WXA-70A combines a powerful stereo amplifier with extensive streaming capabilities in a remarkably compact design. It transforms existing speakers into a modern hi-fi system and, in addition to Wi-Fi streaming, offers the ability to connect TVs, turntables, CD players, and other sources. Control is conveniently managed via the MusicCast app, the included remote control, or directly on the device itself.

Hi-Fi sound in a compact format

Despite its compact dimensions, the WXA-70A is designed for high-quality and dynamic sound reproduction. Yamaha achieves this by combining an audiophile-grade ESS SABRE ES9039Q2M DAC with its own digital audio technologies. The proprietary "DAC on Pure Ground" circuitry creates an exceptionally clean environment for processing delicate analog audio signals, supporting precise and detailed reproduction.

The design is also geared towards high-quality audio. The rigid aluminum housing and vibration-resistant construction contribute to mechanical stability. Gold-plated speaker terminals underscore the high-quality build.

Integrated stereo power amplifier

Depending on the mains voltage variant, the WXA-70A delivers up to 2 × 105 watts into 4 ohms. The 120V/230V models provide 2 × 55 watts into 8 ohms at 20 Hz to 20 kHz and 0.06% THD. At 4 ohms, the amplifier achieves 2 × 105 watts under the same test conditions. In single-channel operation, up to 165 watts into 4 ohms are possible.

Streaming for almost any source

The WXA-70A supports numerous streaming services and platforms via Wi-Fi. These include AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, and Roon Ready. Music servers and internet radio can also be used. Bluetooth is available with SBC and AAC support.

Supported formats include MP3, WMA, MPEG-4 AAC, WAV, FLAC, ALAC, AIFF and DSD.

TV, vinyl and other sources

The WXA-70A also integrates external sources into the hi-fi system. The TV can be connected with just one cable via HDMI eARC/ARC. Thanks to HDMI-CEC, compatible functions such as volume and power control can be operated via the TV remote.

Additional inputs include an analog RCA input, an optical digital input, and a USB port. A subwoofer output allows for the addition of an active subwoofer.

A Dialogue Level function can improve speech intelligibility in TV shows, movies and sports broadcasts without having to increase the overall volume.

YPAO room calibration

The included YPAO microphone allows the WXA-70A to be adapted to the acoustic properties of the listening room. Room calibration includes a parametric equalizer (PEQ), YPAO volume, and Reflected Sound Control (RSC). The latter is used to control early sound reflections that can affect the stereo image and the clarity of the playback.

MusicCast Multiroom

As part of the Yamaha MusicCast system, the WXA-70A can be integrated into a multi-room environment. Using the MusicCast app, sources can be selected, playback controlled, and multiple rooms connected. In addition to streaming services, connected sources such as TV audio or vinyl records can also be streamed to other MusicCast rooms.

Comfortable operation

An OLED display on the front provides information about the source and playback status. Additional controls are available directly on the device, via the MusicCast app, and with the included remote control.

Prepared for professional integration

The WXA-70A is also suitable for integration into professional audio and smart home installations. It is compatible with Control4 and features an integrated web setup, allowing for convenient system settings and network configuration via a standard web browser.

For reliable integration into control systems, a dedicated IR input and a 12V trigger output are also available. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth can be deactivated independently if required.
