Burmester B15 – Compact 2-way loudspeaker with floorstanding speaker performance

The Burmester B15 proves that physical cabinet limitations don't have to mean the end of spatial imaging precision. Designed as a compact 2-way bass-reflex loudspeaker, the B15 covers a frequency range from 46 Hz to 45,000 Hz. This gives it the frequency spectrum and detail of a full-fledged multi-way system in living room-friendly dimensions.

At the heart of the high-frequency reproduction is an Air Motion Transformer (AMT). This transducer produces a finely resolved, airy treble response with high detail density, impulse fidelity, and uncompressed dynamics. The low-midrange is covered by a 170 mm driver with a specially impregnated fiberglass diaphragm. This material effectively suppresses partial vibrations, resulting in ultra-short decay times, uncolored midrange, and precise definition in the upper bass range.

All chassis are individually selected for each cabinet and pair, artificially pre-aged, and matched in pairs. This process ensures that manufacturing tolerances are reduced to a minimum and that an absolutely homogeneous sound characteristic is guaranteed across the entire stereo pair.

The spatial reproduction also follows a targeted tuning: the crossover and chassis arrangement are precisely designed for a natural stage height and depth-layered phantom sound source localization – a spatial imaging quality that is otherwise reserved for larger cabinet shapes.

For acoustic integration into different listening environments, the loudspeaker comes with a damping plug. This allows for targeted adjustment of the bass response to placement near walls or specific room modes. With a sensitivity of 88 dB and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, the B15 also boasts high amplifier compatibility and integrates flexibly into a wide variety of high-end system environments.
