JBL HDI-1200P Subwoofer

Designed and developed at JBL's world-famous acoustic engineering facility in Northridge, California, the JBL HDI-1200P forms the basis of a complete HDI Series surround system. This active subwoofer features a 12-inch (300 mm) Poly-plas™ diaphragm woofer powered by a 1,000-watt amplifier, providing powerful dynamics and incredibly precise sound reproduction.

The subwoofer driver in the HDI-1200P leverages the core DNA of JBL converters found in the HDI woofers, delivering maximum performance with significantly reduced distortion. This powerful 12-inch (300 mm) driver is based on a cast aluminum frame that supports a large ceramic motor structure in a Symmetrical Field Design with a ventilated pole with flared outputs. A 3-inch long-throw voice coil drives the high-density Poly-plas™ cone. The entire structure was optimized by Klippel and FEA to achieve the maximum performance in the system. Combined with the 1,000-watt amplifier and bass-reflex-tuned cabinet, the HDI-1200P plumbs the depths of low frequencies, giving films and modern music a solid foundation and visceral realism.

The HDI-1200P amplifier offers a choice of RCA or XLR line level inputs as well as a variety of controls that can be used to adapt the performance to the respective room or system configuration. Gain and low-pass crossover controls are included, as well as a selectable phase switch and single-band parametric EQ controls. System integration occurs via a selectable Auto Power switch or the 12V trigger input with pass-thru output. The platform delivers 1,000 watts RMS with significant peak power to meet even the largest dynamic requirements. Advanced protection and monitoring features ensure the HDI-1200P delivers optimal performance even under adverse conditions.

The JBL HDI-1200P's chassis is heavily braced to create a solid acoustic foundation and features a bass-reflex design with two downward-firing, computer-optimized flared ports. The cleverly curved housing has a modern design and is either painted in high-gloss black or equipped with furniture-quality satin walnut or gray oak veneer. A magnetically attached grid covered with black fabric completes the elegant appearance.
