Bluesound Generation 2i - Better Streaming

Bluesound’s new Generation 2i devices offer improved sound, greater flexibility, AirPlay 2 and Alexa support, updated Bluetooth, and hardware upgrades for a better multiroom streaming experience. Multiple models are now available.

The multiroom specialist Bluesound has ignited the next stage of development for its technology platform. The devices of the new Generation 2i promise better sound, more flexibility, and even more fun with your own music collection.

Bluesound has always had the reputation of being the slightly better wireless streaming system for discerning sound quality. With the further developed devices of the new Generation 2i, they confirm and strengthen this reputation once again. To achieve this, the entire platform has been reworked on the hardware side and equipped with new software.

All new Bluesound devices can now operate in either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi, increasing flexibility when working with modern network routers and providing an even more stable connection. With the update to version 4.2 aptX HD, the practical Bluetooth wireless technology has also been brought up to date. Bluetooth 4.2 aptX HD transmits music data at up to 48 kHz/24 bit, offering true CD quality. All devices of the 2i platform can also function simultaneously as Bluetooth transmitters and receivers. This means, for example, that music can be easily fed into the system from a smartphone, or a wireless headphone can be connected.

Also new is support for Apple AirPlay 2. This means that devices from other manufacturers that also support AirPlay 2 can be integrated into the multiroom system and controlled via Apple HomeKit and the Siri voice assistant. Speaking of "voice assistant": with the 2i platform, it is now also possible to control a Bluesound multiroom system using Amazon's Alexa.

The individual devices in the Bluesound family have also been revised in detail. For example, the Powernode 2i now offers a second combined input for digital or analog music signals, and the Pulse Soundbar 2i can now be connected to the TV via an ARC-enabled HDMI input. The wireless speakers Pulse 2i and Pulse Mini 2i have been equipped with completely new drivers and new amplifiers, promising even better sound quality.
