New Edition: Naim Mu-so Qb2

Mu-so Qb 2 is the latest member of the multi-award-winning all-in-one wireless family from the British hi-fi specialist Naim Audio. With the most up-to-date hardware and software, as well as brand-new features, the Mu-so Qb 2 delivers incredible performance. The distinctive design of its predecessor has also been further developed and now appears in the look of the current, second Mu-so generation.
It’s not really a surprise—Naim announced today that the smaller Mu-so will also receive an update to the second generation. Just like its big sister, the Mu-so 2, introduced in May, the Mu-so Qb 2 uses the new Naim streaming platform. Twenty-five engineers worked for three years on this ambitious project. The result is a system that opens up your own digital music collection, the world of web radio stations, and music streaming services such as TIDAL and Spotify in a completely new way. The new streaming platform now forms the common foundation for all Naim streaming products, from the Mu-so family and the Uniti series up to the flagship ND 555.
The Mu-so Qb 2 also adopts the innovative control system of the new Mu-so generation. The distinctive volume control knob features an intuitively operated touchpad with 15 sensor buttons and is impressively illuminated when your hand approaches. A gentle touch is all it takes to start the next track in the playlist, select the next web radio station, or jump to the next Spotify song.

Alternatively, the Mu-so Qb 2 can be conveniently controlled from the sofa using the current Naim app for iOS and Android, and even throughout the entire house via multiroom setup. Fans of classic manual operation can keep the wide range of Mu-so Qb 2 functions under control at any time with the new, compact remote control.
Just like its larger sister model, the Mu-so Qb 2 presents itself in an elegant, grey-brushed aluminum housing with a new, easily replaceable speaker grille, available not only in classic black but also in trendy colors like terracotta, olive, and peacock blue.
Inside the compact cube of the Mu-so Qb 2 are 300 watts of musical power, delivered through a completely newly developed speaker system that produces an impressive soundscape. The acoustic system was developed in close collaboration with speaker specialist and corporate partner Focal, who contributed 40 years of experience in building reference-class acoustic components. It is supported by a new digital signal processor (DSP) that calculates the individual control of each speaker with thirteen times the computing power of the previous model.

The British engineers also optimized the WiFi connectivity. Now, alongside the traditional LAN cable connection, the Mu-so Qb 2 offers a wireless network connection that enables high-resolution 32-bit UPnP at up to 384 kHz sampling rate. At the same time, with Apple Music Airplay 2, Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Chromecast, and countless web radio stations, millions of music tracks are just a fingertip away.
On site, the Mu-so Qb 2 also happily accepts tracks from smartphones and MP3 players via Bluetooth, or plays music from a USB stick or external hard drive through the USB input. The Mu-so Qb 2 also brings a completely new quality to your TV evenings. Through the optical input, television sound is delivered with a richness that is simply unattainable with TV speakers alone.

Music throughout the house
The Mu-so Qb 2 also performs excellently as part of a multiroom setup. Thanks to its compact dimensions, it is particularly well suited for rooms with limited space, such as kitchens or bedrooms. In combination with other Naim network players like Mu-so 2 and Uniti, as a source for Airplay 2 compatible active speakers, or as a member of a Chromecast group, the Mu-so Qb 2 distributes dynamic sound throughout the entire home.
With the new Naim app for iOS and Android, you can conveniently control volume and playlists, as well as lighting mood and party mode, all from a central location. The app also provides detailed information about the artist, genre, and album, including cover art and booklet texts, for each track. Of course, the Mu-so Qb 2 can also be perfectly integrated into a Roon network.
Charlie Henderson, Managing Director of Naim Audio, describes the latest addition to the Mu-so family as follows: "With the Mu-so Qb 2, even more people can experience our award-winning all-in-one wireless solution in even more places. With outstanding performance in the smallest of spaces, the Mu-so Qb 2 not only plays confidently solo but also fits perfectly into a multiroom setup—ideal for situations with limited space, where a Mu-so 2 would already be too large."
