World Premiere in Hamm: purSonic IV Sound System

World Premiere in Hamm: purSonic IV Sound System

Soundboards from purSonic have been our first choice for years when it comes to truly invisible integration of speakers in living spaces. That’s why we’re especially pleased that the German manufacturer is now presenting its latest development to the public for the first time in our new showroom in Hamm. The IV sound system combines PurSonic’s customary high suitability for living spaces with a level of sound quality that has never before been achieved. On October 25th, not only was the opening of the newly designed salesrooms at AUDITORIUM Hamm celebrated, but, ‘almost as a side note,’ a true world premiere also took place. As part of the renovation, we worked together with purSonic to realize the first integration of the new IV sound system.

Hardly anyone would suspect speakers here at first glance.

Speakers (in-)visible

With the well-known soundboards, which can be installed under wallpaper or plaster, purSonic has revolutionized the market segment of so-called architectural speakers. The absolutely invisible installation of speakers opens up completely new possibilities to integrate high-quality media and entertainment electronics into virtually any room—the dream of every interior designer and many customers.

The elements of the IV system are delivered fully assembled and can be installed by any experienced drywall builder. The required installation depth is very low. But as good as the existing products are, thanks to intensive development work and years of experience, this concept cannot be pushed to its limits in terms of sound quality. To nevertheless offer a solution for demanding listeners, purSonic has developed the IV system. 'IV' stands for 'in-/visible', meaning a combination of visible and invisible components. The vast majority of the speaker system remains invisibly hidden in the wall as a bending wave transducer. The system can still be integrated into practically any drywall.

A new level

What’s new, however, is the classic cone driver in the upper section for reproducing low frequencies, as well as the Air Motion Transformer, which is used as the tweeter. This tweeter sits in a trim that can be designed to match the wall in any way you like. So in the end, you hardly see more of the sound system than with the conventional purSonic soundboards. And at the latest, if you use additional design elements such as LED lighting, hardly anyone will recognize the circular decorative trims as part of a speaker.

Perfect calibration

In terms of sound, the improvement is even greater; the sound of the IV system has come much closer to that of a floorstanding speaker. Die-hard sound purists may still not want to trade their setups for this, but the music and film sound that comes directly from the wall with virtually no visible technology is truly astonishing. This is made possible, among other things, because the system is fully active and can therefore be precisely adapted to the installation situation and the room. Of course, as with every purSonic installation, a proper calibration is an indispensable part of the setup.

Part of the installation is a final calibration, with which the fully active system is perfectly tuned to the room.

The calibration is computer-assisted. Since numerous parameters can be adjusted, the process takes a bit of time, but the result is well worth this attention to detail. See for yourself: the purSonic system is always available for demonstration at AUDITORIUM Hamm; our team is happy to advise you!
