The FireBird High (Variable) Current is designed for all applications where high current delivery is crucial. It is ideally suited for AC conditioners and regenerators, power amplifiers, AV receivers, active loudspeakers, and active subwoofers. Thanks to its variable high-current design, it also reliably handles demanding load changes.
Conductor technology: PSS & PSC+ – Perfectly finished surfaces, maximum purity
AudioQuest uses solid Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS) and Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors in the FireBird. Solid conductors prevent interference between individual strands of wire – one of the main causes of distortion.
The exceptionally smooth surface of the Perfect Surface metals ensures high clarity and reduces roughness typically found in conventional copper grades. Through the precisely matched combination of PSS and PSC+ conductors, the FireBird achieves a sound quality remarkably close to that of pure silver conductors – but at a significantly lower cost.
ZERO-Tech – Power reserves without compression
With a current capacity of 20 A RMS @ 125 VAC or 16 A RMS @ 220–240 VAC, the FireBird High Current is designed to confidently handle short-term current peaks far above the continuous load.
ZERO technology eliminates the characteristic wave impedance, so current transients are neither compressed nor flattened. The result is free-flowing, uncompressed power transmission, even under dynamic load changes.
RF/ND-Tech – Effective noise reduction across a wide frequency spectrum
AC power grounding cables act like antennas for high-frequency interference. This interference often directly affects sensitive audio and video circuits.
The patented RF/ND technology (US patent 8,988,168) significantly minimizes these high-frequency interferences. A specially developed phase cancellation array, in combination with proprietary dielectric materials, ensures exceptionally effective noise reduction across a wide frequency band.
72V DBS – Dielectric bias for maximum quietness
The integrated 72V Dielectric Bias System (DBS) reduces dielectric noise and stabilizes the behavior of the insulation materials. This improves the broadband dissipation of RF interference. The result is an audibly quieter, clearer, and less colored background sound.
Directional dependence – Precisely controlled conductor geometry
All conductors have a non-symmetrical grain structure. AudioQuest precisely aligns each conductor, thus optimizing the RF impedance so that interference is diverted in the direction where it has the least impact.
The correct orientation is carefully checked for each cable. Markings on the connectors facilitate correct installation in the system.
