The JBL 4349 Studio Monitor is a compact, high-performance monitor speaker based on the patented JBL D2415K dual 1.5-inch compression driver coupled to a large-format horn paired with a 12-inch cast-frame woofer with Pure- pulp membrane. This combination delivers music with an authority and accuracy not possible with traditional speaker designs.

Designed and developed at JBL's world-famous acoustic engineering facility in Northridge, California, the 4349 Studio Monitor is a showcase of patented JBL acoustic technologies. This monitor speaker features a 2-way design with patented High-Definition Imaging (HDI™) horn technology, the patented 1.5-inch (38 mm) D2415K dual compression driver and a 12-inch (300 mm) cast-frame woofer with Pure Pulp membrane for powerful dynamics and incredibly precise sound reproduction.

JBL's revolutionary high-definition imaging horn geometry is the result of intensive research into the intricacies of horn design. In search of exceptional detail in the treble range and a uniform dispersion pattern for consistent reproduction in the room, JBL engineers pioneered a design that delivers a neutral frequency response both on and off axis and a seamless transition between the treble and bass drivers.

The JBL D2415K compression driver benefits from the advanced research and applications derived from JBL Professional's 'D2' range. At the heart of the D2415K device is a pair of lightweight, ring-shaped polymer membranes that improve high-frequency extension by reducing membrane mass. The V-shaped geometry of the ring membrane reduces breakup modes, eliminates time grinding and reduces distortion. The result is incredible dynamics with accurate reproduction and a lack of power compression. The 'D' prefix indicates that this driver uses two diaphragms, two voice coils and two motors for an incredibly efficient design.

High-frequency and ultra-high-frequency tone controls are located on the front panel below the horn and allow the sound to be adjusted to suit the environment and the listener's preferences. These regulators work in conjunction with an advanced crossover design that incorporates air core inductors, cast wire resistors and low ESR metallized film capacitors in a multi-cap configuration to optimize the performance of the 4349 drive components. Multi-cap technology improves series capacitance by averaging their values while reducing ESR and distortion.

The 4349's powerful 300mm woofer utilizes JBL's core technologies to ensure very high output with low distortion. The 75 mm long-throw voice coil combined with two opposing spider dampers guarantees maximum performance with significantly reduced distortion. A Pure Pulp cone provides a lightweight, rigid diaphragm and helps eliminate dissolution modes to ensure correct piston-shaped motion across the entire operating band.

The 4349 cabinet is heavily braced with 25 mm (1 inch) thick walls to create a solid acoustic foundation and features a bass-reflex design with two front-firing, computer-optimized ports. The cabinet has a classic JBL studio monitor design with a blue baffle and is finished with a choice of satin walnut or black walnut furniture wood veneer. A black (Black Walnut) fabric grille completes the elegant appearance. Two sets of gold-plated binding posts ensure a secure connection and offer the choice of single-ended or bi-wire/bi-amped connections.
