Dali Opticon 6 MK2 Floorstanding Loudspeaker

The DALI OPTICON MK2 series includes six models. Within the product family of passive loudspeakers from the house of DALI, it represents a milestone both in terms of reproduction quality and technical ambitions: This is unmistakably a hi-fi product of the high-end class. The features of the OPTICON MK2 include the well-known DALI hybrid tweeter, die-cast aluminum chassis, SMC pole pieces and the housing manufactured entirely by DALI.

Each model of the OPTICON MK2 series is equipped with the subwoofers manufactured by DALI itself on SMC2. The OPTICON MK2 series basis equipped. They are supported by either a DALI fabric dome tweeter or the hybrid fabric/ribbon tweeter that has made DALI so famous. The OPTICON MK2 models are available in three new finishes: Satin White, Satin Black and Tobacco Oak.

The speaker covers are black for the two darker housing options and light gray for the white housing option – in upholstered furniture quality, of course.

Opticon 6 MK2

The slim floorstanding speaker OPTICON 6 MK2 is the first model within the OPTICON MK2 series to be equipped with the well-known DALI hybrid tweeter made of fabric dome and ribbon tweeter. The hybrid tweeter reproduces highs in much more detail.

It has been improved again for the OPTICON MK2: the 29 mm diameter dome taken from the CALLISTO series is integrated here together with the 17 × 45 mm ribbon element in a revised cast aluminum front panel. With the OPTICON 6 MK2, bass and mids are covered by two 6½-inch wood fiber membranes with SMC-based magnets.

The lower of these two chassis is slightly lowered in the mids. The OPTICON 6 MK2 has the option of bi-wiring, so that the mid-woofer and high-frequency module can be connected independently of one another. With the double bass-midrange module, the dual flare bass reflex tube and the increased internal volume of a floor-standing loudspeaker, the OPTICON 6 MK2 is able to act much more powerfully in the bass range than the OPTICON MK2 compact models.

This higher bass performance combines with brilliant clarity in the mids and the typical sparkling highs of the DALI hybrid tweeter to create a convincing whole.

The scope of delivery of the OPTICON 6 MK2 includes base elements made of cast aluminium. They are supplemented with either black chrome floor spikes or (if installation on sensitive floors is planned) vibration-reducing damping pads. Tools for installing the foot castings and spikes are included.
