Dynamic power meets precision

The REL 212 Black Label is the most powerful subwoofer in the renowned S Series – a masterpiece of dynamics, control, and elegance. Equipped with two active 12-inch CarbonAlloy™ drivers, two passive 12-inch cones, and a boosted 1,000-watt amplifier, the 212 Black Label delivers an impressive total cone area of over 450 square inches (1,166 cm²). This combination gives it the ability to fill even large rooms with energy and authority – with bass that is not only deep and powerful, but also precise, fast, and tonally rich.

Versatility at the highest level

The 212 Black Label is far more than just a powerhouse. It's considered the Swiss Army knife of the REL series, performing equally well in high-end stereo systems and reference home theaters. In stereo pairings, its authority approaches that of a true line array configuration, offering a massive yet finely tuned bass response.
An exclusive real wood front cover is available as an option, which enhances not only the appearance but also the acoustic performance.

Design with character

Within the already prestigious REL product line, the 212 Black Label stands out with its particularly elaborate case design. A single vertical trim strip extends the entire height and is crowned by a striking Black Label badge on the top, framed in a carbon fiber look.
The silver-colored, bead-blasted handles offer a feel like raw titanium – robust, elegant, and functional all at once. Inside, solid billet aluminum provides structural stability and minimizes unwanted resonances. The optional wooden cover improves airflow and adds an extra touch of sophistication to the design.

Maximum control – uncompromising power

The redesign of the 212 Black Label affects not only the exterior, but especially the internal components. Both active and passive drivers have been completely redesigned to optimally utilize the enormous power of the 1,000-watt Class D hybrid amplifier.
The active CarbonAlloy™ drivers with ultra-lightweight carbon fiber centers react instantly to every signal – with exceptional control, dynamics and precision.
In addition, two passive radiators provide depth and spaciousness: a downward-firing driver for the lowest bass frequencies and a rear-firing radiator that extends the soundstage in both height and depth. Both utilize cast aluminum baskets to ensure stability even at extreme excursions and to reliably handle the additional power increase of approximately 40% (around +5 dB).

Reinforcement with substance

The 212 Black Label's hybrid amplifier combines the best of both worlds: the power of classic Class A/B monoblocks with the efficiency of a linear Class D power amplifier. This concept enables enormous dynamic reserves while simultaneously minimizing energy consumption – only 40 watts at idle, barely more than a handful of nightlights.
At its peak, over 1,200 watts can be continuously delivered without any harshness or distortion. The result is amplification that is both urgent and powerful, yet smooth and confident – ideal for demanding stereo setups as well as large-format home theaters.

Analog signal processing for natural precision

Like all REL models, the 212 Black Label uses 100% analog filters – a deliberate choice for the most authentic sound. The renowned high-level input taps the signal directly from the speaker outputs of your main power amplifier without sacrificing any power, transmitting the full sonic signature of your system. This allows the REL to blend seamlessly with your speakers – a characteristic that has distinguished REL for decades.
Alternatively, RCA and XLR inputs are available for low-level connections, based on the same filter circuits. For combined stereo and home theater systems, high-level and .1/LFE outputs can be used simultaneously – music remains harmoniously integrated, while movie soundtracks are reproduced with full impact.

Wireless freedom with Airship Direct™

Where wired connections are impractical or disruptive, REL offers the ideal solution with Airship Direct™. This optional, high-resolution wireless system transmits high-level and .1/LFE signals simultaneously – broadband, lossless, and with the speed, transparency, and authority that REL is known for. The module simply plugs into the rear panel and remains invisible in the room – for uncompromising, wireless sound.
