It was only after the Japan and Europe-based Marantz sound engineers felt the quality met their high standards that they stopped their intensive work. The PM-12SE offers the most direct signal path through the amplifier, delivering 100 watts per channel into 8 ohm speakers or 200 watts per channel into 4 ohm speakers. In addition, the device has high-quality nickel-plated input terminals and speaker connections made of high-purity copper.

When building the PM-12SE, only one major goal was pursued: the best possible reproduction of music. For this reason, a discrete two-stage design is used, with separate power supplies for the preamp and power amp channels. The sound engineers orientated themselves on the flagship integrated amplifiers PM-10 and PM-KI Ruby: phono amplifiers for MM/MC with Marantz Musical Premium Phono EQ circuit and Marantz HDAM technology for optimal signal purity. The PM-12SE's all-analog design contributes to its noise-reducing structure and clean build.

Many competing designs today use a DAC or digital amplification and volume control. Marantz, on the other hand, uses a sophisticated and fully analogue design to keep all operations as clean and simple as possible. While an in-amp D/A converter is an extremely practical solution, digital circuitry creates a noise floor and can interfere with the delicate analog signals passing through the amplifier.

That's why Marantz has chosen to do all digital-to-analogue conversions in its SACD/CD players or network players for its Premium series and to keep the amplifiers free. Because Music Matters
