Blue VU meters and an almost inexhaustible number of analog and digital inputs and outputs. The new C2700 AC follows a long line of exceptional tube preamps and its current version also offers an integrated DAC in a class of its own!
Equipped with five 12AX7a and one 12AT7 tube, this preamplifier offers not only the fantastic sound properties of its analog circuit but also DA conversion at the highest level! Like its transistor brother, the C53AC, which was released at the same time, this McIntosh model also received the brand new, highly audiophile digital module DA2. This can be replaced by future DA modules, thus keeping the C2700 AC always up to date with the latest technology.
The DA2 module converts high-res digital files up to DSD512 or DXD 384kHz and is supported by a highly audiophile quad-balanced 8-channel 32-bit digital-to-analog converter. Another new feature on the device and directly on the DA2 is an 'audio-only HDMI channel input (ARC)', which can be used to connect televisions or AV receivers with HDMI (ARC) output. Multi-channel formats are converted to stereo sound via this! In addition, the DA2 module has a McIntosh-exclusive MCT input, which enables a secure DSD connection to all McIntosh SACD / CD drives of the MCT series and thus offers the best possible HD audio sound quality from SACDs.
The C2700 AC offers nine analog and seven digital inputs for connecting all imaginable music sources. It is an audiophile preamplifier-wish-free-happy package and has proven McIntosh technologies such as bass / treble control, home theater PassThru and a high-drive headphone amplifier with Headphone Crossfeed Director (HXD®) and Power Control.
As with the C53 AC, the digital circuit technology and the power supply are also arranged below the steel chassis assembly level in the C2700 AC as a special constructive effort. However, the complete analog circuit is spatially separated above this. This single-beam separation raises the performance of the C2700 AC to the performance of a two-chassis preamplifier design!
Like all of its preamplifier and fully amplified siblings, the new C2700 AC tube preamplifier with its two glowing blue VU meters, the black glass front panel and the two controls for inputs and volume is another variation of the world-famous McIntosh Sound aesthetics.
