Hifi Rose RD160: A versatile DAC for demanding music lovers
The Absolute True Fidelity DAC RD160 from HIFI ROSE is a digital-analog converter that stands out for its versatile connection options and high-quality workmanship. With a wide range of functions and a solid technical basis, this device is ideal for anyone who wants to enjoy their music in the best quality. The RD160 is not an ordinary DAC, but a device that impresses with its flexibility and precision.
Versatile connection options for different sources
The RD160 offers an extensive range of digital and analogue connections, allowing you to connect almost any audio source. Whether via USB, optical or coaxial inputs, AES/EBU or even HDMI for I2S signals, the DAC is designed to support a wide range of devices. This makes it an ideal choice for users who want to use different sources such as PCs, CD players, streaming devices or even external master clocks.
A special highlight is the ability to connect the RD160 to an external USB 3.0 fiber hub via an SFP port. This option enables stable and lossless data transmission over longer distances, which is particularly advantageous in professional environments or complex home theater setups.
Precise sound reproduction through high-quality components
The RD160 uses high-quality components to ensure precise and detailed sound reproduction. The heart of the DAC is two AK4499EXEQ chips in combination with an AK4191EQ chip from AKM, which ensure excellent signal processing. This technology enables the playback of high-resolution audio formats such as DSD512 and PCM with a resolution of up to 32 bit/768 kHz.
Another technical highlight is the high-precision OCXO clock, which ensures a low jitter rate in the long term. This is particularly important in order to minimize temporal inaccuracies in signal processing and thus ensure clean and precise sound reproduction. In addition, the RD160 offers the option of connecting an external master clock, which further increases accuracy.
Flexible filter and sampling settings
The RD160 offers a variety of settings to adapt the sound to individual preferences. With six different filter options - including Sharp, Slow, Short Sharp, Short Slow, Super Slow and Low Short - users can shape the sound character of the DAC to their liking. These filters influence how the device handles the digital signals and how they are converted into analog signals.
In addition, there are four sampling options: Upsampling, To PCM, To DSD and Bypass. These settings allow you to change the resolution of the audio files or play them in their original format. Upsampling in particular can help improve the quality of older or lower resolution recordings.
User-friendly operation and attractive design
In addition to its technical performance, the RD160 also impresses with its user-friendly operation. The device has a hidden AMOLED display that shows important information such as the current sampling rate, input and volume. The brightness of the display can be set in six levels so that it adapts optimally to the ambient conditions.
The device can be operated either directly on the device or using the included remote control. This provides access to all important functions, including volume control, input source selection and filter setting adjustment. The RD160 is also equipped with a trigger function that allows the device to be switched on and off automatically when a connected source device is activated.
Solid workmanship and attractive design
The housing of the RD160 is made of solid aluminum and stainless steel, which not only ensures high stability, but also an attractive, modern design. With dimensions of 430 x 330 x 88 mm and a weight of 10 kg, the DAC is not a lightweight, but the solid construction underlines the high-quality workmanship.
