Powerful sound with the HiFi Rose RS130
The HiFi Rose RS130 is a modern streaming transporter that appeals to digital music lovers. As a pure digital streamer without an integrated digital-analog converter (DAC), it is aimed at users who value a flexible connection to external DACs.
Design and display of the HiFi Rose RS130
A striking feature of the RS130 is its 15.4-inch multi-touch LCD screen. With a resolution of 1,920 x 382 pixels, it offers clear displays from different angles. Album covers and videos are therefore displayed sharply and smoothly.
The housing of the RS130 is made of sturdy aluminum. Crystal buttons on the top and ventilation openings in the shape of the ROSE logo give the device a special design.
streaming features and connectivity
The RS130 supports various streaming services such as TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify Connect and Apple Music. Music can be streamed from optional internal storage, USB mass storage and network drives. Control is via the Rose Connect app, UPnP, Roon or directly on the device via buttons and touchscreen. An IR/Bluetooth remote control is also included.
For network connectivity, the RS130 uses an optical SFP connector that provides galvanic isolation from the network hardware and is resistant to RF interference. An SFP module is included in the delivery, but a switch with SFP or an SFP media converter is required for use.
Additionally, the RS130 features an optical USB port that minimizes problems with USB connections to Mac/PCs.
sound quality and technical features
The RS130 buffers the streamed audio signal in an NVMe SSD before further processing to avoid network interruptions. The manufacturer specifies impressive measurements: a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 141.9 dB, a dynamic range (DNR) of 141.6 dB and a total harmonic distortion (THD+N) of -143 dB.
For perfectionists, the RS130 offers a 50 and a 75 ohm input for connecting a 10 MHz master clock. In the device itself, an OCXO (Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator) ensures minimal jitter to enable the downstream DAC to process the signal optimally.
Various outputs are available for the digital connection to the DAC: AES/EBU, SPDIF, Toslink, USB and I2S (via HDMI).
