Michael Lang: 3 Days of Peace & Music
This large illustrated book is a tribute to the 50th anniversary of Woodstock, created with the co-creator of the legendary festival, Michael Lang.
It contains hundreds of photos and documents, accompanied by Lang's fascinating memories and insights into the most famous and successful festival of all time, with images of Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Richie Havens, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Santana, Janis Joplin, Joan Baez, Country Joe McDonald and the Grateful Dead.
Memorabilia from Lang's largely unknown archive includes the original designs and plans for the event, correspondence, set lists, information about artist fees and much more. This wealth of information is accompanied by the best photos of the event from photographers such as Ralph Ackerman, John Dominis, Bill Eppridge, Dan Garson, Barry Z. Levine, Ken Regan, Lee Marshall and Baron Wolman, and especially the Henry Diltz archive. Diltz was the only official photographer at Woodstock and was there for two weeks, from an empty cow pasture through the initial construction, the arrival of the crowds, and the aftermath. He also captured stage performances and behind-the-scenes moments with many of the artists involved.
WOODSTOCK is a lush work that conveys the vision, hard work and incredible magic that made up these “three days of peace and music.”
