Vertical planar line source with 80 inches height

The central feature of the LS4i is its 80-inch (203.2 cm) planar magnet driver, designed as a vertical line source. This design differs fundamentally from conventional point source drivers and offers significant acoustic advantages. The linear vertical dispersion specifically reduces distracting reflections from the floor and ceiling – a common source of sound distortion. This results in a focused, low-distortion, and clear sound that remains reproducible in a wide variety of acoustic environments.

In addition, line-source technology ensures even energy distribution throughout the room, ensuring a consistent sound image with a uniform timbre even at greater listening distances or across multiple rows of seats. Whether used as a front, center, or surround speaker, the LS4i always delivers a seamlessly homogenous sound signature and impressive dynamics.

Sound quality at the highest level

With an output power of over 130 dB at a distance of 3.66 meters, the LS4i offers enormous power reserves for impressive levels and dynamic sound development – without sacrificing precision or transparency. The high-quality construction is based on a two-way system that reproduces eight octaves of frequency bandwidth (from 80 Hz to 20 kHz) with the utmost accuracy.

The planar magnet driver utilizes an extremely lightweight PEEK (polyetheretherketone) film, enabling extremely fast impulse processing. This property results in the speaker's lightning-fast response to musical transients and ensures crystal-clear reproduction of the finest details—from gentle tones to explosive sound peaks.

Technical equipment and system integration

The LS4i is designed for precise active control and requires an external crossover (outboard active crossover) and a digital signal processor (DSP). Two amplifier channels are required for operation. This separation of components allows for precise adaptation to the spatial conditions while providing maximum control over the system's acoustic behavior.

Thanks to planar line-source technology, the LS4i offers significantly improved power delivery over longer distances compared to conventional point-source speakers. The even sound distribution minimizes acoustic "hot spots" or "dead zones" in the room, contributing to a consistent, immersive listening experience—regardless of the listener's position.

Flexible installation options

The LS4i is designed as an in-wall model and was specifically developed for flush-mounted installations where the highest sound quality is desired without placing any visible speakers in the room. For extended setups, the LS4i can also be stacked, allowing for larger vertical dispersion areas—for example, in particularly high-ceilinged rooms or specialized cinema installations.

Alternatively, other models in the LS4 series are available, including the LS4m for wall mounting and the classic LS4 as a freestanding version. Both the LS4i and the other models can be supplied in custom colors upon request, enabling perfect visual integration into a wide variety of room concepts.
