With a titanium head and an advanced magnetic circuit design

The long-awaited nine-year wait for the Te Kaitora experience is over as the new Te Kaitora Rua invites you to embark on a unique journey once again.

The original Te Kaitora pickup was born from a collaboration between Dynavector Japan and Dynavector New Zealand. The Te Kaitora allowed analog lovers to embark on a journey of discovery to the outer limits of vinyl playback.

The improved Te Kaitora Rua continues the journey by incorporating many of the latest features from its Dynavector colleagues, the XV-1s and XX-2. The Te Kaitora Rua even managed to improve on the silky treble and openness of the original.

Note: Te Kaitora means 'The Explorer' in the New Zealand Maori language, Rua means 'the second version'.

Improvements

  • The wire material for the coil was changed from silver wire to PCOCC copper wire. This ensures a smoother sound and significantly better musical performance.
  • A titanium headpiece for maximum rigidity, along with a miniaturized stainless steel screw connecting the front and rear yoke pieces to the magnetic circuitry.
  • A 6mm Boron arm with the Pathfinder (PF) line-contact stylus used in both the Dynavector XV-1s and XX-2.
  • The clever square armature and matching square opening in the front yoke piece ensure significantly improved linearity in the magnetic flux distribution.
  • Alnico magnets are used for high magnetic flux density.

Technical data

  • Type: Low output moving coil pickup system, flux damper and alnico magnet
  • Output voltage: 0.26 mV (at 1 kHz, 5 cm/s)
  • Channel separation: 30 dB (at 1 kHz)
  • Channel balance: 1.0 dB (at 1 kHz)
  • Frequency response: 20 - 20,000 Hz (± 1 dB)
  • Compliance: 10mm/N
  • Edition pressure: 1.8 - 2.2 g
  • Impedance: 6 ohms
  • Recommended load impedance: > 30 ohms
  • Stylus: 6 mm length, solid boron
  • Needle type: PF Line Contact, needle radius: 7 x 30 micron
  • Weight: 9.8g
