Visit to the KEF MUSIC GALLERY in London

Visiting the KEF Music Gallery – where high-end technology, design, and music culture come together
Visiting the KEF Music Gallery – where high-end technology, design, and music culture come together

An invitation to London

In the hi-fi and high-end industry, visits happen from time to time – if the schedule allows. When KEF invited us to experience the KEF Music Gallery in London, we happily made space in our calendar. The trip was rewarded with fascinating insights into the world of one of the most renowned loudspeaker manufacturers.

The visit was not a traditional factory tour, watching how speakers are made. The Music Gallery has a different aim: to show that loudspeakers are part of a lived music culture – for all those who enjoy music consciously. For the London opening, the British spared no effort.

A place for encounters and creativity

Just a few steps from the venerable BBC headquarters, the acoustically perfect gallery opens its doors. KMG London is open Tuesday to Saturday for all music lovers who want to experience KEF products up close. The integrated “KEFé” serves excellent coffee – accompanied by subtle background music.

The Gallery is both meeting place and stage. Its flexible audio system allows for a wide range of setups – whether for DJ sets, record releases (such as Michael Kiwanuka’s Small Changes), photo exhibitions or other events. On the same floor, there is also a small studio for podcasts and all projects requiring acoustic quiet.

Two floors full of sound worlds

The KMG covers 500 m² across two floors. A stylish staircase leads to the basement, where the entire KEF range can be explored hands-on. Around a large Kentish oak table, visitors can chat with experts or dive into KEF technologies. From there, the path leads to the Living Room, where we were presented with the KEF XIO soundbar in a cosy living-room atmosphere. Another door opens to the demo room – equipped with two Muons and a fully integrated home cinema featuring the brand’s large CI loudspeakers. Here, we experienced one of the most impressive Dolby Atmos demonstrations ever. The naturalness and spatial depth of the music and film scenes were simply breathtaking. To finish, the team let the legendary KEF Muon play – a moment one does not forget.

A concept with global appeal

The KEF Music Gallery concept already exists in Hong Kong and Tokyo. The aim is to combine music, film, art and design in an immersive experience space – a forum where culture enthusiasts can share all that makes life more beautiful. We recommend that all visitors to London, alongside Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace (and yes, if you’re quick, you can see all of these in under two hours on foot – tested by Auditorium), make sure to stop by the KEF Music Gallery. Music, drinks and outstanding sound await you.
