The meticulously refined Empyrean II boasts a more modern sound and fresh design, while retaining the successful features of its predecessor. In this generation, Meze Audio's specialists have further perfected Rinaro Isodynamics' innovative isodynamic hybrid array design, achieving a groundbreaking performance increase.

The goal was to improve the reproduction of the finest details while achieving a more neutral sound signature, without losing the original, easily accessible character. The second generation thus sets new standards in terms of sound quality and audiophile enjoyment.

Art meets craftsmanship

The Meze Empyrean II is a natural evolution of Meze's first planar magnetic headphones, the original Empyrean. It retains all the beloved elements of its iconic predecessor and adds a touch of sculptural elegance.

Precisely manufactured using CNC milling, the frame features an elegant matte black finish with silver accents and a redesigned grid inspired by timeless Art Deco patterns.

Meze's goal was to improve detail reproduction and achieve a more neutral sound signature without compromising the original 'easy listening' character. Through sophisticated tuning methods, they achieved better resolution and detail, setting a new standard for cleaner and more precise audio reproduction.

The reliability and durability of the diaphragm in the driver have also been improved to ensure exceptional performance even in demanding acoustic environments.

Architecture of the Isodynamic Hybrid Array Driver©

Within the artfully crafted, glass-fiber-reinforced ABS frame, two isodynamic hybrid array drivers are symmetrically arranged. These advanced drivers utilize powerful neodymium magnets in a unique hybrid configuration to generate a strong isodynamic magnetic field. This magnetic field ensures an even distribution of sound impulses across the entire surface of the diaphragm.

The diaphragm itself has an active area of 4650 mm² and weighs an astonishingly light 0.16 grams, enabling extremely precise and clear audio reproduction.

The earcups – or more precisely, the frame – are made of robust, fiberglass-reinforced ABS. This construction ensures not only durability but also resistance to external influences. The driver is therefore not only a technical masterpiece but also a guarantee of outstanding performance and reliability in every situation.

What makes the Meze Empyrean even more special: Within the same diaphragm, two independently shaped voice coils are combined to provide more selective acoustic performance at specific points in the ear structure and to adapt the sound to the ear structure with the highest precision.

This unique combination maximizes the direct sound wave frequency over the 10 kHz range and improves imaging and stage positioning by reducing the effects of time delays caused by stray field reflections in the shortwave range.

Incidentally, each driver is handcrafted and carefully tested in an industrial facility in Ukraine.

A design with anthropometric measurements in mind

The Meze – Empyrean features ergonomically shaped, oval earcups with an anatomical design. Like a sports car, the weight and materials are lightweight yet extremely robust, optimizing not only ease of use but also the quality of sound reproduction.

The formula for an F1 race car or a high-end audio headphone is to optimize and fine-tune power output to ensure the best possible control – while minimizing weight as much as possible. With an egg-shaped design, the frame is significantly lighter and adapts to all ears with superior comfort.

The driver's performance was maximized through a fully custom-made coil and a special magnet arrangement that maximizes the active usable area of the driver within its oval shape.

Duo ear cushions

The brand-new Duo ear pads are specifically designed for the Empyrean II. Made from a sophisticated blend of premium leather and Alcantara, the Duo ear pads add a modern dimension to the Empyrean II's signature sound profile. One part of the ear pads is made of leather, the other of Alcantara.

The result is a harmonious tonal balance that extends across all music genres. And a flawless fusion of well-placed bass frequencies, thanks to the leather, with a wonderfully detailed and airy soundstage achieved through the use of Alcantara.

Angled Alcantara EarPods

The angled ear pads, made of soft, Alcantara-covered foam, are ideal for reproducing the finest details and nuances in your recordings. The angled shape creates more space within the ear pad, resulting in a more airy sound signature with clearer bass and improved midrange presence.
