The Sub 6 has been designed to fit seamlessly into all systems with Dynaudio speakers. And for owners of the Contour or even higher series (that is: Contour, Confidence, Evidence, Special Forty, Special Twenty-Five) it has an ace up its sleeve.
The Sub 6 is equipped with advanced intelligent DSP technology, which adapts its performance to the user's system so precisely that it can actually transform two-way into three-way speaker systems. For use with other loudspeakers (including those from other manufacturers), the relevant parameters crossover frequency, gain and phase can be set manually.
Two completely newly developed 24 cm MSP + Hybrid Drive membranes are responsible for its powerful bass reproduction. They were specially developed for subwoofers. In addition, there is an output stage with 500 watts of power integrated into the base. The new chassis are located at both ends of the ingeniously constructed, closed housing, which is wider than it is deeper, which means it can be placed more discreetly against a wall.
The Sub 6 is equipped with two cinch and two XLR connections, which allows integration into practically all systems. A number of practical functions facilitate integration into large and complex systems. This includes the option of delaying the audio signal in order to ensure that the reproduction via the subwoofer and loudspeaker is perfectly coordinated. All the user has to do is enter the distance between the subwoofer and the loudspeaker. The loudspeaker then automatically adjusts both the signal phase and the signal delay. The equipment also includes a fully parametric EQ. It includes three filters that allow counteracting room modes in order to achieve the best possible sound quality.
From the two-way to the three-way system
The Sub 6 integrates perfectly into existing Dynaudio systems. The reason for this is that our developers went beyond the obvious and the usual. They determined all relevant acoustic properties of our popular high-end hi-fi speakers and then recorded them in the form of so-called performance maps. This information is stored in Sub 6. With the help of the integrated display and menu system, the user can select his Dynaudio loudspeakers here. The frequency transition of the Sub 6 is then perfectly matched to the existing two-way system. This creates a 'seamless' three-way system.
Update the firmware
When Dynaudio introduces new speakers in the future, we will provide firmware updates for the Sub 6 that will include appropriate mappings. This means that the Sub 6 can form a perfect ensemble with the latest loudspeaker models as well as our classics.
Brand new chassis - tailor-made for subwoofers
Subwoofers must be optimized with a different focus than regular stereo speakers. This is why the new Dynaudio MSP + Hybrid Drive Chassis are used in the Sub 6. To increase rigidity, they are mainly made of aluminum and were specially developed for subwoofers. A two-component damping system is used to avoid any 'ringing' that may result from the use of aluminum. It comprises paper damping on the rear of the chassis and a damping cap on the front made of the magnesium silicate polymer (MSP) developed by Dynaudio itself. The result is the best possible playback performance.
