The Unison Research® S6 Black Edition is a special edition of the popular S6 tube amplifier, which has been significantly developed in technical and aesthetic terms. The amplifier combines modern design with a high-gloss front panel and a stylish gun metal finish. But the inner values are also impressive: the technical improvements and the increased sound quality characterize this edition.
Technical innovations:
The S6 Black Edition has been further improved through optimizations in the circuit and power management, which significantly improves the sound quality. The output power is now 40 watts per channel, which represents an increase of 15% compared to the standard model. Particularly noteworthy is the completely revised polarization of the output tubes, which does away with cathode resistors and capacitors. This contributes to more precise sound reproduction, especially at low frequencies, which remain free of unwanted "coloration".
Sound characteristics:
The amplifier uses high-quality Gold Lion tubes, which ensures outstanding acoustic performance. With two ECC83 triodes in the preamplifier and six KT77 tubes for the power amplifier, the S6 Black Edition offers brilliant fine resolution and a natural, dynamic sound. The carefully tuned tubes ensure minimal feedback, which further increases the detail of the playback.
Improved circuits and processing:
The input selection circuit has also been optimized to ensure low noise and clean channel separation. Return GND technology provides improved signal management by minimizing the signal path. The power supply has also been revised, resulting in better signal stability and a higher dynamic range.
Additional features:
In addition to the analog inputs, the S6 Black Edition is equipped with a new DAC3 that supports digital inputs such as USB, Toslink and S/PDIF. This allows high-resolution audio formats such as PCM and DSD to be played natively.
