Rega Mercury preamplifier
The Rega Mercury is a meticulously engineered preamplifier for listeners who understand music reproduction not as mere effect, but as a process of precision. Its design follows a clear principle: maximum signal fidelity with minimal inherent interference. Every circuit design decision is aimed at reducing noise, distortion, and sonic coloration.
Based on nearly four decades of Rega's experience in developing discrete transistor amplifiers, the Mercury achieves an exceptionally low noise level and a correspondingly wide dynamic range. Quiet passages, in particular, benefit noticeably: subtle textures, spatial details, and decays are fully preserved without artificial emphasis. The sound is open, stable, and natural – even with complex program material.
The integrated DAC is fully designed to meet the demands of high-quality digital sources and processes PCM signals up to 32-bit/192 kHz as well as DSD64 via USB. The asynchronous USB connection operates without its own power supply, thus minimizing interference. Analog and digital signal processing are cleanly separated to prevent interference.
A discretely designed headphone amplifier with high output power enables the controlled operation of demanding headphones across a wide impedance range. Here, too, neutrality is paramount: high power is not used for sonic gain, but rather for superior control of the driver.
The high-resolution IPS color display provides clear feedback on operating states and signal sources without distracting from the essentials. Build quality, material selection, and mechanical stability meet the demands of a reference preamplifier designed for long-term, uncompromising use.
The Rega Mercury is aimed at listeners who recognize quality without it needing to be explained – and at systems that require a preamplifier signal that adds nothing and takes nothing away.
