Designed for pleasant sound quality

The CD-S303 CD player inherits the sonic characteristics of high-quality CD player components and offers excellent sound quality for music lovers. In addition to CDs, music files can also be played from USB storage devices via a USB port on the front.

Pure Direct circuit

The Pure Direct circuit, tried and tested in Yamaha amplifiers and receivers, is also used in the CD-S303. Pressing the button on the front panel or on the remote control turns off the digital audio output and the display. In this way, background noise is reduced to a minimum and the sound quality of the analog audio output is optimized.

Sophisticated circuits in a sophisticated arrangement

Yamaha engineers have spared no time or effort in arranging the parts and circuit boards inside the unit to optimize the sound quality. The power supplies for motor drive, display and USB operation, as well as for the digital and analog parts, have been isolated from each other to eliminate electromagnetic interference. The drive mechanism is located in the center of the unit for ideal weight distribution and therefore balanced performance.

Short signal paths

The strictly logical and symmetrical internal arrangement of parts and boards serves to keep signal paths on the individual boards as short as possible. This purposeful design also ensures short, straight signal paths between each component, minimizing the risk of signal loss or interference—an engineering feat we can be proud of.

Well matched, high quality parts

Every single part of a CD player affects the sound quality. Yamaha takes the utmost care in the selection and matching of parts and materials. A high-quality acoustic condenser, a new high-gain, low-noise op amp, and the use of damping material under the transformer and around the signal cables are just a few examples of how Yamaha has optimized sound quality. The sophisticated inner workings of the CD-S303 reach a level that can compete with much more expensive models.

Powerful D/A converter

The powerful D/A conversion system includes a 192 kHz/24-bit D/A converter and takes full advantage of the digital technology that Yamaha has developed and optimized over a period of many years. This ensures extremely precise conversion, excellent signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range.

Laser scanning system with sliding mechanism

The laser pickup system is isolated via a sliding mechanism, so sensitive operation is not affected by vibration.

Intelligent servo control

Conventional tracking servo circuits cannot completely eliminate errors that occur with warped discs, dust and other defects. This system uses a reliable CD-exclusive Digital Signal Processor (DSP) to monitor the signal and adjust the pickup's tracking and focus, as well as the spindle motor speed and correction of any errors.

Music enjoyment with MP3, WMA, LPCM, AAC and FLAC

With the front USB port, you can easily play music files in MP3, WMA, LPCM, AAC or FLAC format from USB storage devices with high-quality sound. You can also play back files burned to CD-R/RW.

CD-Text display with three modes

Information about the CD currently being played is shown directly on the CD player display. The text display with three modes shows information about the title of the CD, the artist and the individual pieces of music.

Programmed playback (audio CDs only)

It is very easy to program the tracks you want in any order. You can delete the program at any time with just one touch.

More functions

  • 10-button direct selection and direct access
  • shuffle
  • Repeat function (entire CD/single track)
  • Time display with three modes
  • 4 lighting levels
  • Resume playback
  • standby mode
  • Playback mode memory
