L-100 CENTENNIAL – Class-A integrated amplifier for the anniversary

The L-100 CENTENNIAL is entirely dedicated to purist Class A amplification. In this operating mode, the output stage continuously operates within its optimal range – an approach that has been considered the benchmark for particularly natural, coherent, and musical sound reproduction for decades.

Class A technology is particularly valued by audiophiles because it doesn't dissect sound events, but presents them as a cohesive whole. Voices gain body and stability, subtle dynamic gradations are preserved, and music sounds calmer, richer, and more organic overall. Luxman implements this concept in the L-100 CENTENNIAL with 20 watts per channel into 8 ohms or 40 watts per channel into 4 ohms.

To ensure consistently stable operation, Luxman employs a generously sized power supply with a specially developed EI core transformer and eight 10,000 µF filter capacitors. Short signal paths, carefully selected internal wiring, and a consistently low-noise mechanical design guarantee that the amplifier operates with control and authority at all times. Solid cast iron feet further enhance the overall system's mechanical stability.

LIFES 1.1 & LECUA1000 – Control and precision in signal flow

At the heart of the L-100 CENTENNIAL lies LIFES 1.1 , Luxman's further developed proprietary negative feedback circuit. It selectively reduces distortion without altering the character of the music signal. The result is an exceptionally clean, stable, and relaxed sound with clearly defined contours and a tranquil background.

This concept is complemented by the highly precise LECUA1000 volume control, which is divided into 88 finely graduated steps and integrated directly into the amplifier circuit. This ensures that the balance remains perfectly maintained even at very low volumes – a crucial factor for natural, detailed listening in everyday situations. Discrete buffer circuits in the preamplifier stage further support consistent signal transmission across the entire control range.

Connections & everyday usability

Despite its uncompromising Class A architecture, the L-100 CENTENNIAL is a versatile integrated amplifier. Four line inputs, two balanced XLR inputs, and an integrated MM/MC phono stage allow for the direct connection of classic and modern sources as well as high-quality vinyl setups.

The integrated phono stage makes getting started with analog music playback particularly easy, without compromising sound quality. Additional features include tone controls, a loudness function, balance, and mute.

For flexible system integration, the amplifier offers a pre/power amplifier section with crossover capability, as well as trigger and control connections for more complex system configurations. The headphone output is dual (6.3 mm and 4.4 mm Pentaconn) and supports separate grounding for exceptionally stable channel separation and precise spatial imaging.

Anniversary design with technical implications

The L-100 CENTENNIAL's special status is also visually underscored. The front panel in classic Luxman silver, the finely brushed aluminum housing, and the subtle Centennial emblem combine tradition with modern clarity. The large, dynamic VU meters and the centrally located 7-segment volume display define its iconic appearance and can be switched off if desired.

Inside, Luxman relies on consistently optimized signal routing: circuit boards with peel-coat technology reduce interfering influences in the signal path, newly developed low-noise relays improve channel separation, and a loop-less chassis design minimizes magnetic and ground-related interference.
