In the age of digitization, comprehensive digital equipment is essential. The Pro-Ject DAC Box RS2 is a fantastic sounding and very versatile D/A converter and the perfect partner for the crème de la crème of high-end amplifiers and loudspeakers. It's the perfect partner for anyone looking for a modern D/A converter with a variety of digital inputs and a fully balanced design.
The DAC Box RS2 is based on the incredible Pro-Ject Pre Box RS2 Digital and uses the same great sounding converter chips but foregoes an analog preamp. This allows the DAC Box RS2 to concentrate fully on its job as a D/A converter.
The Pro-Ject DAC Box RS2 implements the dual-mono configuration of ESS Saber's top-of-the-line D/A converters. The ESS 9038Q2M chips offer the highest sound quality in high-end circuits. Unlike most D/A converters in this price range, the DAC Box RS2 contains two converter chips and separate signal paths for the left and right channels. Thanks to these converters, the DAC Box RS2 also supports up to 32-bit / 768kHz files in PCM and DSD format (up to DSD512) via USB and really plays any digital files you can buy or stream.
The analogue output is implemented in parallel in solid state and in high-quality tube technology. So you can choose which sound you like better.
The DAC Box RS2 has eight digital filters. One of them is the MQA developers' proprietary Optimal Transient Digital Filter. These filters allow you to further customize the sound to suit your preferences. The DAC Box RS2 comes with full HW and SW support for MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) technology.
The DAC Box RS2 processes the USB input signal with a powerful multi-core XMOS microcontroller with advanced multi-core RISC architecture. For re-clocking, it uses the CPLD MAX II (Complex Programmable Logic Device) chip from Altera, which, together with the XMOS microcontroller, enables high-quality processing of both classic and MQA technology.
To make the most of this excellent technology, the best way is to connect the DAC Box RS2 to the Pro-Ject Stream Box S2 Ultra and use the TIDAL streaming service. You can also enjoy MQA quality by connecting them to the revolutionary CD transport system, Pro-ject CD Box RS2 T. The CD Box RS2 T can be connected to the DAC Box RS2 via HDMI with the reliable I²S differential bus, which also supplies the master clock (16.9344 MHz).
An all-aluminum remote control is included in the box and the DAC Box RS2 Digital is available in a premium silver or black aluminum case. On the large display on the front, it shows all relevant information clearly, clearly and structured. The navigation menu is very responsive. This is how you set up your DAC Box RS2 according to your wishes in a matter of seconds!
