Anthem's MRX series is designed to elevate audio and video performance to a very high technical level within its respective price range. The MRX 740 positions itself as a powerful AV receiver for demanding home theater and media installations where both sound quality and system integration are paramount.

Building upon the previous generation, the platform has been strategically enhanced with the latest version of ARC Genesis room correction, a redesigned calibration microphone, an integrated web interface, and modern streaming support. This is complemented by object-based audio formats and a clean, channel-stable amplifier section delivering up to 140 watts per channel (depending on the configuration).

High-performance reinforcement and flexible channel architecture

The MRX 740 offers integrated multi-channel amplification with up to 11 channels (partially amplified) and also supports extensive pre-out configurations for more complex setups. The power amplifiers deliver up to 140 watts into 8 ohms on the main channels (1–7, two channels driven), while the other channels are rated at 60 to 75 watts.

This architecture is optimized for practical home cinema applications: stable power output, controlled load capacity and consistent dynamics even in multi-channel operation.

Modern 8K HDMI platform

A key feature is the HDMI 2.1-based video architecture with full 8K support. The MRX 740 offers 7 HDMI inputs and multiple outputs with eARC, as well as optional zone functionality.

The receiver supports 8K/60 Hz and 4K/120 Hz, including modern image standards such as HDR10+, Dolby Vision, VRR, and ALLM. This makes it suitable for both current and future video sources, as well as demanding gaming and high-resolution media playback.

Object-based audio formats and processing

The MRX 740 supports modern surround formats such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X as well as their upmixing variants (Dolby Surround, DTS Neural:X and Anthem Logic).

The digital signal path utilizes a 32-bit DAC with a sampling rate of up to 768 kHz, designed for high resolution and low distortion. This enables precise and detailed playback of both multi-channel and stereo sources.

ARC Genesis room correction

A key component of the system is the ARC Genesis. This analyzes the acoustic properties of the listening room and enables precise adjustment of frequency response, time alignment, and levels.

Advanced features such as subwoofer integration, target curve adjustment and multiple memory profiles allow for flexible optimization for different listening situations.

Streaming and system integration

The MRX 740 supports common streaming standards such as AirPlay 2, Chromecast built-in, Spotify Connect, and Bluetooth. This allows it to be easily integrated into existing network environments.

For system integration, IP control, RS-232, and compatibility with common smart home systems such as Control4, Crestron, or RTI are available. Additionally, the Anthem Remote App enables convenient control via mobile devices.

Operation and system control

Control is possible via a web interface, app, or traditional remote control. These interfaces allow for flexible adjustment of inputs, volume, sound modes, levels, and room correction. The goal is to provide the most direct and intuitive operation possible despite the extensive range of functions.
