S2 Network Streamer

The LUMIN S2 adapts the circuit architecture of the flagship X1 and combines it with an updated processor platform and integrated digital inputs.

Circuit design & D/A conversion

• Dual-mono design: For signal processing of the left and right channels, a separate 32-bit D/A converter of type ESS SABRE ES9038PRO is used in 8-channel parallel operation.
• Fully symmetrical output stage: The analog signal processing is fully symmetrical. Output transformers from Lundahl handle the signal coupling and guarantee galvanic isolation at the analog output.
• Integrated power supply: Unlike the X1, the power supply is housed within the chassis and shielded. Two toroidal transformers supply the analog and digital sections via a two-stage voltage regulation system, strictly separated from each other.

Digital interfaces & DAC function

In addition to its function as a network player, the S2 also serves as a dedicated D/A converter for external digital sources:

• Inputs: 1 × S/PDIF coaxial (RCA), 1 × S/PDIF optical (TOSLINK)
• Input format support: PCM up to 192 kHz / 24 bit and DSD64 (via DoP)
• Compatibility: For connecting CD/SACD drives, streamers, PCs or TVs

Hardware platform & software integration

• System performance: A more powerful processor platform compared to the previous generation offers increased storage capacities as well as computing reserves for complex resampling and future system expansions.
• In-house firmware: Continuous in-house development allows for free firmware updates to integrate new interfaces and standards.

• Streaming protocols & players: Roon Ready, AirPlay, JPLAY (iOS), Audirvana certified, Plex server integration
