With the Pro-Ject Stream Box S2 Ultra we have developed a completely new product in the world of audio streamers. It offers completely new application scenarios and the best audio performance. The main focus is to bring every USB DAC into the network and thus expand your own high-end DAC with modern and future-proof streaming functions.

A lot of great-sounding products don't offer networking, either because they're too old or because they just didn't have their primary focus in that area. The solution is usually to replace it with a new and modern device, stream audio via Bluetooth ® or connect a smartphone or tablet via the analog inputs to feed amplifiers or active speakers with music signals. However, there was no really good solution. Until now.

Stream Box S2 Ultra: The intelligent addition

The Pro-Ject Stream Box S2 Ultra offers modern connectivity with network and USB-A ports. The USB output is optimized for the transmission of audio signals. It uses a special internal power supply and only premium components. File compatibility issues are a thing of the past as the Stream Box S2 Ultra acts as a network bridge, passing the files straight to your digital-to-analog converter.

Since many DACs have a USB input, the Stream Box S2 Ultra is also designed as a USB detox device. The Stream Box S2 Ultra cleans the noisy signal from your computer while making your music sound even better.

Our new iOS and Android remote control app is based on an open source project and has a large community behind it. This guarantees full support and future improvements.

Stream Box S2 Ultra: feature richness

The Pro-Ject Stream Box S2 Ultra is fully remote controllable via smart devices or a regular web browser. It offers support for the most popular streaming services: Spotify, TIDAL, Quobuz and HiRes streaming. These services provide you with endless amounts of music and guarantee that you will never run out of music. The implementation of TuneIn also gives you the opportunity to listen to various Internet radio stations. You can listen to your favorite radio shows, the news and discover new channels from around the world - with just a few clicks.

You can connect your monitor to the Stream Box S2 Ultra via the rear HDMI video output. This will then show you the graphical user interface. With the implementation of Shairport, we were even able to give iDevice users another way to send music to our Stream Box S2 Ultra.

The Pro-Ject Stream Box S2 Ultra also has two USB ports, one on the front and one on the back. Both offer the option of connecting an external hard drive to the device. The Stream Box S2 Ultra offers file support for PCM up to 352.8kHz/32Bit and DSD256.

Pro-Ject loves the Roon software, that's why the Stream Box S2 Ultra is Roon Ready and certified. This way you can simply select your Stream Box S2 Ultra on the Roon interface and send bit-perfect audio streams over your network.

Pro-Ject the Ripper

And as if the Pro-Ject Stream Box S2 Ultra wasn't versatile enough, it also allows you to rip CDs with any external USB CD drive in lossless FLAC format with great precision. The CD metadata is automatically recognized and can be edited manually before ripping if necessary. The music data can then be conveniently saved either to the internal memory (approx. 16 GB of internal memory is available) or to a USB stick/hard drive connected to one of the Stream Box's USB ports. Regardless of the USB drive used, the Stream Box S2 Ultra software ensures that the rip is 100% bit-perfect with the original CD!

You can find the ripped CD under "Music Library" on your Stream Box S2 Ultra. Either under "INTERNAL" - if the CD was ripped to the internal memory - or "USB" - if it was ripped to a USB/HDD drive. And of course the ripped CD will also be in the library under "Artists", "Albums", "Genres" and so on. displayed.

This incredible range of functions makes the Pro-Ject Stream Box S2 Ultra ultra-future-proof. Together with the Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 Digital, it forms the most versatile and audiophile set in the price range.
