The T+A PS 3100 HV was specifically developed for the A 3100 HV and PA 3100 HV power amplifiers, extending their power supply with a high-performance, external power supply unit. This complete separation of the power supply allows the sensitive amplifier stages to operate independently of the high power demands of the connected loudspeakers.
Separate power supply for greater stability
The PS 3100 HV is connected to the A 3100 HV or PA 3100 HV via the M-23 special power link cable. The external power supply then takes over the complete power supply of the output stages.
The amplifier's internal power supply continues to exclusively power the sensitive input stages and high-voltage amplifiers. This keeps the high currents generated when powering the high-power output stages out of these circuit areas. This creates a stable foundation for amplification and reduces interference within the power supply.
High-performance energy supply
The PS 3100 HV features a 1200 VA power supply and a total filter capacitance of 240,000 µF. This ensures that sufficient energy is quickly available to the output stages, even under high power demands.
The external power supply supports a stable power output, especially during dynamic music passages, and enables the amplifier to reliably power even demanding speaker loads.
Processor-controlled soft start
The high performance of the power supply places special demands on the power-on process. The PS 3100 HV therefore features a processor-controlled soft-start circuit.
The inrush current is controlled and limited, while the supply voltages are gradually built up and the high-performance capacitors are gently charged. This allows the high-performance power supply to be reliably integrated into the home power supply.
