The MC Verismo is a state-of-the-art pickup that combines all the experience of the Ortofon developers. It enables precise and powerful playback with a very high dynamic range and complements the Ortofon Exclusives series with another attractive model.

Noble materials for a great sound experience

As part of the Ortofon Exclusives series, the MC Verismo takes up all the essential elements of these pickup systems and shows in an exemplary way what is technically possible in the field of analogue music reproduction today. The housing is a logical further development of the revolutionary design of the successful models MC A 90 and MC A 95 and is also manufactured using the SLM technology (Selective Laser Melting) developed by Ortofon. In this additive process, the smallest titanium particles are applied in layers one after the other and fused together using a laser.

The result is a perfectly manufactured housing with outstanding damping properties. The cantilever is made of pure diamond and is firmly attached to the Ortofon Replicant 100 scanning diamond. The scanning behavior made possible by this is far superior to other systems in terms of speed and transparency.

Drive with higher efficiency

The drive system of the MC Verismo is particularly light and compact. It is based on a very powerful but compact neodymium magnet. This allows the use of a light generator. The coils are made from Ortofon's material Aucurum, a low-oxygen and gold-coated 6NX copper. Thanks to this combination of low mass and very high strength, the system can follow the deflections of the scanning diamond quickly and precisely. The newly developed anchor consists of a special metal alloy. This is less magnetic than iron and contributes to the high dynamic range of the MC Verismo. Inside the magnet is the Field Stabilizing Element (FSE) developed by Ortofon. It enables a stable magnetic field that is independent of the movements of the armature. The result is a dramatic increase in dynamic range and spatial representation.

Dramatic increase in dynamics, resolution and richness of detail

One of the most important features of the MC Verismo is the Wide Range Damping System (WRD) patented by Ortofon. In this, a tiny platinum disk is placed between two rubber cushioning elements, each with different properties. The result is superior tracking with perfect attenuation across the entire frequency range. This completely eliminates distortion and resonance. A newly developed rubber compound is used in the suspension system of the MC Verismo, which further strengthens the damping effect and improves the overall performance of the pickup.

Assembly

All components of the MC Verismo are assembled in a complex manual process. Even the tiny coils are wound by hand. A process that not only requires special training, but above all many years of experience. This is the only way to ensure that every system guarantees a truly extraordinary musical experience.

“As part of our Exclusives Series, the MC Verismo is one of the most complex pickup systems we have ever developed! It is really remarkable that we have managed to realize this state-of-the-art pickup in this price range. The MC Verismo is based on the technologies of Ortofon's top MC systems. Like them, it delivers a top-class music experience. It sounds precise and very powerful with a high dynamic range. You simply have to have heard it,” says Leif Johannsen, head of development at Ortofon.

The name Verismo is a homage to the style of Italian opera of the same name. This was characterized by increased realism and wide-ranging melodies. Giacomo Puccini is one of the most famous composers of this era.
