D100 – THE LATEST GENERATION OF OPTICAL DRIVES

With the D100, Melco has developed a special kind of external CD drive. It fully meets the requirement of guaranteeing CD import in archive quality. And as a peripheral solution, it enhances the functionality of the Melco N1 seriesto a new level. For example, with the option of CD playback via USB Cut as a high-end CD player.

The Melco D100 drive is used for easy importing of CDs (Red Book) or for direct playback of CDs in real time. CD playback requires the Melco Streamer/Server to be connected to a D/A converter.

HIGHEST DEMANDS ON THE PROCESSING

A high-quality Japanese drive of the latest generation is built into the Melco D100. The drive is in no way comparable to a "cheap" disposable IT drive. The high-quality audio-specific components and the drive from Melco are built on their own HS3 platform.

The silver, noble housing (with black side panels) harmonises optically with the N1 series. The solid construction of the device (weight: 3.5 kg) prevents disturbing vibrations.

The Melco D100 is also perfect for customers who want a perfect drive for their computer (PC, MAC, Linux). In conjunction with the appropriate software, CD rips of the highest quality can also be produced here.

PERFECT CD IMPORT THANKS TO NEW UV LASER TECHNOLOGY

The CD drive mounts directly to a 20mm thick chassis over Melco's anti-vibration platform. At the same time, the newly developed UV laser system (instead of the conventional infrared laser) delivers precise optical surface measurements. The UV laser system guarantees optimal scanning of the optical data carrier.

The extreme mechanical stability of the device ensures perfect CD import.

NEVER RIP AGAIN!

The imported file remains in archival quality directly in the unit. That means: Never rip again. The imported files are stored on the hard disk as FLAC or (optionally) WAV files; the metadata including the cover are directly embedded.

The control circuit has been developed according to audiophile standards. A clock generator with extremely low jitter ensures very accurate reading and data transfer.

TWO USB 3.0 PORTS - MANY POSSIBILITIES

The back has two USB 3.0 ports. One port is for direct connection to a Melco for data import. Another option is to connect the D100 directly to a USB DAC or other USB3 storage medium or import device.

Controlled through the front panel interface of all Melco Digital Music Libraries, the D100 utilizes the Melco DIRECT CD PLAY feature. When connected to an external USB DAC, the Melco can be used as a high-end CD player.

By deliberately separating the CD mechanism from the storage unit of the Melco main libraries, system reliability is ensured and sound quality is also maximized.
