The Flat Series AudioQuest speaker cables are built around a semi-solid, concentric design. Although this is not as transparent as the solid conductors (AudioQuest Solid-Core), the semi-solid wires provide significantly better resolution than conventional wire strand bundles.

SEMI-SOLID CONCENTRIC PACKED CONDUCTORS

The semi-solid, concentric conductors are used in some AudioQuest power and speaker cables because they are an inexpensive, flexible alternative to traditional stranded conductors. Semi-solid concentric packed conductors use fewer and larger strands that maintain their position with respect to one another over the entire length of the cable. While solid conductors are the ultimate solution to stranded-induced distortion, semi-solid, concentric-packed conductors avoid many of the causes that cause distortion in stranded conductors.

LONG-GRAIN COPPER (LGC)

Long crystalline copper (LGC) enables a more balanced, clearer sound than cables with the usual oxygen-free, highly conductive copper (OFHC - Oxygen-Free-High-Conductivity). OFHC is a general metal industry specification that considers 'losses' without considering any distortion. LGC has fewer oxides in the conductive material, fewer impurities, fewer grain boundaries and clearly offers better performance. G4 cables contain LGC strands in a semi-solid, concentric-packed conductor structure.

SPREAD SPECTRUM TECHNOLOGY (SST)

Each individual conductor and each conductor bundle has its own specific distortion profile. Even if radially symmetrical conductors (solid or tubular) have the fewest irregularities, each conductor of a certain size leaves a sonic footprint. SST is a method to significantly reduce these characteristic weaknesses by using a precisely determined combination of conductors
