The Bryston BDA-3 is an exceptionally high-quality digital-to-analog converter for demanding hi-fi systems. Its meticulously developed digital technology enables precise and detailed reproduction of high-resolution music data, making the BDA-3 a versatile interface for virtually any digital source. For maximum flexibility, six different digital inputs are available. These include two USB ports, AES/EBU, S/PDIF via RCA and BNC, and Toslink. This allows the BDA-3 to be easily connected to computers, network players, CD transports, digital drives, and other digital source devices.

The BDA-3's extensive features are also evident in its handling of high-resolution music data. It supports PCM up to 384 kHz and 32-bit, as well as DSD up to DSD-256 and DSD4x. User-defined upsampling can also be activated for selected inputs. This gives the DAC numerous options for optimally adapting digital sources to the desired playback characteristics.

Particular attention has been paid to the analog output stage. The fully discrete, symmetrical Class-A circuit was designed for the most precise and lowest-noise signal processing possible. Separate power supplies for the analog and digital circuit sections ensure complete isolation between the two. This allows the BDA-3 to convert its digital signals into a high-quality analog output signal with exceptional precision.

The technical specifications underscore its high standards. With a THD+N value of less than 0.002%, the BDA-3 operates with extremely low distortion. Simultaneously, the noise level at the output reaches very low values of -134 dB via RCA and -140 dB via XLR. The output voltage is 2 V via RCA and 4 V via XLR, thus enabling optimal integration with high-quality preamplifiers and integrated amplifiers.

In addition to its sonic qualities, the Bryston BDA-3 impresses with its user-friendly operation and versatile control options. Integration into complex hi-fi and home theater systems is possible via infrared, RS232, IP, or a 12-volt trigger. This makes the DAC suitable for both classic stereo systems and sophisticated installations with centralized system control.

The enclosure is designed to meet the high demands of a premium audio component. Bryston uses a robust aluminum chassis and a precision-machined, anodized aluminum front panel. For visual integration with different systems, the front panel is available in silver, black, white, gunmetal grey, and champagne. The BDA-3 is also available with an 18-inch or 19-inch front panel.
