Model 15 MK2 with 309 tonearm
The SME Model 15 MK2 is inspired by the SME 30 and SME 20 models and combines many of the technical details and qualities with a significantly smaller footprint. The stable sub-chassis milled from solid aluminum is suspended on the three columns with 10 O-rings each and is controlled by a central damping element, thus absorbing excess energy. The stable aluminum chassis stands securely on three feet and can be leveled in height.
The new reference turntable SME 60 is the technology carrier for the improved drives of the Model 15 MK2. The technological findings from the development of the motor and motor control and the external power supply of the Model 60 have flowed into the Model 15MK2. The new drive has a specially developed 24V synchronous motor that is controlled by a DSP-supported control unit and works incredibly precisely. The DSP supplies the current in two perfect sine waves to the motor, which runs particularly smoothly and precisely. Motor and control unit are perfectly matched. The speed can be fine-tuned in 0.01% increments.
The bearing of the Model 15 MK2 is a robust and durable precision bearing from SME with a phosphor bronze pillow block and a 19mm diameter chrome tool steel axle resulting in a platter bearing machined to within 3/1000mm.
The platter is a sandwich construction with high flywheel mass and excellent damping. The plate support is a micro-profiled material from aerospace. The plate clamp ensures a perfect coupling.
Other versions available
An SME 309 with high-quality 'Crystal Cable' internal wiring made of pure monocrystalline silver is fitted as standard as a tonearm. Optionally, Model 15 MK2 is also available with other SME tonearms such as M2-9R, SME IV or SME V.
The turntable is delivered without a cartridge. Of course, we would be happy to advise you on this.
