Burmester 911 MK3 – high-end stereo power amplifier with 2 × 350 watts

The Burmester 911 MK3 is the second-largest power amplifier from the Berlin-based high-end manufacturer and ranks among the most powerful stereo power amplifiers in its class. Developed directly from the insights gained from the multi-award-winning 909 reference power amplifier, the 911 MK3 represents the third generation of this legendary amplifier concept. Enormous power reserves, high current delivery capability, and exceptional control make it a superior driving solution even for the most demanding loudspeakers.

With 2 x 350 watts into 4 ohms, the 911 MK3 delivers consistently high power and remains stable even with complex speaker loads. Its ability to provide high currents allows it to control even large woofers precisely and confidently. At the same time, the amplifier is characterized by a warm, detailed sound with high spatial resolution. Even the finest musical details remain clearly discernible, even at high volumes.

Technically, Burmester employs a fully symmetrical design and input stages using their proprietary X-Amp Class A technology. The signal path is fully DC-coupled and eliminates any sound-affecting capacitors. A generously sized power supply with a 750 VA toroidal transformer and 130,000 µF of filtering provides the necessary power reserves. Eight selected power transistors per channel and a damping factor of 2750 ensure extremely precise control of the connected loudspeakers.

In addition to classic stereo operation, the Burmester 911 MK3 can be configured as a monoblock power amplifier with 1 x 770 watts via an external mono adapter. Alternatively, an external bi-amping adapter enables operation in bi-amping mode. This allows the power amplifier to be flexibly adapted to different speaker and system configurations.

Burmester also prioritizes uncompromising quality in the construction. The housing and distinctive heat sinks are made of high-grade aluminum components, combining functionality with the characteristic Burmester design. The power amplifier is handcrafted in the Berlin factory using selected components and built to the tightest tolerances. An integrated protection circuit monitors parameters such as temperature and DC offset, contributing to reliable operation.

The Burmester 911 MK3 combines enormous power reserves, exceptional loudspeaker control and finely resolved music reproduction with high-quality workmanship and flexible operating modes – a high-end stereo power amplifier for the most demanding audio systems.
