With the YH-5000SE, Yamaha presents an absolute top-of-the-line headphone. Whether driver, cable, housing or tonal tuning: For this model, everything has been perfected down to the last detail in order to achieve absolutely authentic, audiophile sound.

For the first time in the company's history, a headphone can bear the number 5000, which is only given to outstanding high-end products such as the NS-5000 speakers. With its OrthodynamicTM drivers, a special form of planar magnetostats, it continues the long tradition of this technology known from the HP-1.

For the new YH-5000SE, Yamaha has redesigned this specially developed driver with a thin-layer membrane and paid considerable attention to reducing the weight. The 320 gram light over-ear encloses the ears comfortably and thanks to its open design a very good air circulation is possible. A 3.5mm cable with a 3-pin plug and a balanced 4.4mm cable with a 5-pin plug (Pentaconn) and a 6.3mm adapter are included for the connection. Future owners can also choose from two included ear cushions: a sheepskin version and one made from the luxurious Ultrasuede® microfiber fabric. As an absolute high-end product, the headphones are manufactured in the Japanese factory in Kakegawa under the strictest quality controls.

DETAILED REPRODUCTION OF THE MUSICAL DYNAMICS

The specially developed thin-film membrane is the result of numerous reproduced prototypes, careful measurements and rigorous analysis. It is made by etching the voice coil with a unique pattern on both sides of the film and adding tiny corrugations. This results in a significant weight reduction compared to a traditional dynamic driver and provides excellent responsiveness that perfectly brings out subtle nuances and delicate moods of the music. In addition, high-permeability micro-perforation air dampers on both sides ensure that the membrane movement can be adequately contained. This enables precisely controlled playback without impairing the dynamics of the music. In addition, the rounded shape, which has no fixed points other than the outer perimeter, allows for unimpeded movement of the entire film and allows for exceptionally rich yet clear expression of the lower frequencies.

Besides accurately reproducing the tremendous acoustic atmosphere of a huge concert hall or the intimate and unique warmth of a small club, YH-5000SE offers amazingly realistic and expressive nuances, thanks to which you can feel the artist's position and even the smallest movements. The result is an exceptionally immersive experience, as if you were listening to the artist up close.
