B-stock
B-stock products usually have visual defects, but always work technically flawlessly and are sold with the same warranty as regular items. They usually are:
- Second Choice directly from the manufacturer
- Customer Returns Checked and like new
- Remaining Stock from our warehouse
Flexible setup
The chassis and crossovers used in the OBERON C series are designed to radiate the audio signals over a particularly wide angle. This not only enables rich, spatially precise reproduction outside the sweet spot, but also significantly reduces harmonic distortion and diffraction that impair the sound.
Low latency
The audio signals are transmitted from the SOUND HUB COMPACT to the OBERON C loudspeakers using a proprietary 30-bit wireless protocol. The latency from the input to the loudspeaker is usually less than 15 ms, and both loudspeakers are controlled at exactly the same time.
Patented SMC technology
The pole piece of the magnet system of all OBERON C woofers is partly made of the non-conductive Soft Magnetic Compound (SMC) magnet material patented by DALI. The use of SMC significantly reduces mechanical distortion, which means that the speakers sound very pleasant even over longer periods of time and surprisingly detailed considering their price range.
Active speakers
Each OBERON C loudspeaker uses two Class D amplifiers with an impulse line of 50 watts each, which were selected for their high sound quality and dynamics. One amplifier supplies the tweeter, one the woofer (or the two woofers in the OBERON 7 C).
Description
The extremely slim OBERON 7 C floorstanding loudspeaker is equipped with two 18 cm (7'') woofers, whose wood fiber membranes are driven by an SMC magnet system. They are supported by the same 29 mm fabric dome tweeter that is also installed in the OBERON 1 C. Despite its size, the OBERON 7 C appears light-footed and impresses with its ability to reproduce any style of music naturally and authentically, even at low volume. The OBERON 7 C has an integrated die-cast base to which spikes or rubber feet can be mounted.
The OBERON 7 C is designed for larger rooms where music can be played at high volume. It is the right choice for more ambitious music lovers for whom an audio system is also a commitment. Where there is more space, more variations in the placement of speakers are of course possible. Accordingly, a pair of OBERON 7 C speakers can very well complement a television as a high-quality TV audio solution. Nevertheless, their most important role will usually be music playback from CDs or streaming services.
The OBERON 7 C receives the digital audio signals wirelessly from a SOUND HUB COMPACT or SOUND HUB with a resolution of 24 bit and 96 kHz.
Note: If you want to stream music or radio programs from the Internet or integrate the OBERON C speakers into a multi-room system, the DALI SOUND HUB including BluOS module is the right control unit for you.
woofer/midrange driver/SMC
The OBERON 7 C features two 180 mm (7'') woofers with diaphragms made from our proprietary material mix - a composite of paper pulp and wood fibers. An advanced copper-coated aluminum wire is used for the voice coil.
Our unique SMC magnet technology (SMC = Soft Magnet Compound) is worth highlighting. By using electrically non-conductive elements in the magnet structure, SMC reduces the effects of various distortion-generating properties of the voice coil design. For example, SMC reduces eddy current effects, increases flux linearity, reduces magnetic hysteresis and minimizes the position-related variation of the voice coil inductance. In summary, drivers equipped with SMC are particularly suitable for active loudspeaker systems.
The membrane is surrounded by a rubber surround, which was chosen for its soft and very flexible properties. This allows the membrane to move freely, is only dampened to a very small extent and allows the magnetic drive to control the membrane movement.
amplifier
The OBERON 7 C has two regulated Class D power amplifiers, each with 50 watts of peak power, which were selected for their sound quality and dynamics. One amplifier supplies the tweeter, one the woofer. A signal-to-noise ratio of 100 dB ensures that these power amplifiers can reproduce even the smallest details of a quiet musical passage transparently and precisely.
The electronics module mounted on the back of the OBERON 7 C contains the radio receiver unit, the user interface for the setup, the DSP for the equalization and crossover as well as the powerful two-channel power amplifier.
The amplifiers are powered by a specially developed switching power supply that can dynamically allocate its resources to the two amplifier channels as required. The OBERON 7 C is therefore unusually economical in terms of power consumption, without this being at the expense of dynamics when it is needed.
tweeter
The OBERON 7 C loudspeaker is equipped with a fabric dome. This has a particularly light and unusually large 29 mm membrane. Thanks to the light membrane, the driver covers a particularly large treble range. The large diameter of the membrane and voice coil increases sensitivity and power handling while reducing distortion. This means the driver can also cover lower frequencies than smaller tweeters, which in turn gives more scope when designing the crossover. Ferrofluid in the voice coil gap serves to increase power handling and reduce signal compression when the temperature of the voice coil increases at higher volumes.
Housing
The OBERON 7 C cabinets are made from CNC-machined high-strength MDF panels. They are finished with a range of laminates in wood look or matt white. The cabinets are designed for optimum rigidity to minimise panel resonance, and the corners are rounded. Corner rounding is a rare feature in modern speaker cabinet construction, but at DALI we believe it plays an important role in ensuring rigidity. Internal cross bracing also stiffens the cabinet structure.
The materials used for the internal enclosure damping of the OBERON C loudspeakers are strategically selected and positioned to maximize energy damping in the midrange without compromising transient response and bandwidth in the bass range.
The OBERON 7 C is equipped with dual-flare bass reflex ports on the rear. They minimize turbulence, distortion and compression at the outlet openings. The potentially small distance to the rear wall is also taken into account. The flared ends of the reflex tube delay the onset of air flow turbulence as levels increase and contribute to balanced bass reproduction at any listening volume. The rear design of the bass reflex port has the great advantage that the energy emitted inside the housing, especially the mid-frequencies, is diverted away from the listening position.
