T + A offers three different plugs in its headphone cable program. One of them is equipped with the 4.4 mm Pentaconn connector (manufactured by NDICS). Due to the symmetrical wiring of the Pentaconn connector, the left and right channel connections are separate. The separate structure enables the best possible sound quality, since it prevents the channels from interfering with each other, as can occur with jack plugs.

Compared to jack and XLR plugs, the Pentaconn connection also offers the best contact properties according to our investigations. All contacts are hard gold-plated and free of ferromagnetic materials.

Headphone cables differ fundamentally from speaker cables in terms of their requirements. The latter are designed for high currents and voltages, while headphones, in contrast, work with lower currents and voltages. In order to meet these requirements, a very high material quality and complex construction are necessary.
T + A headphone cables are made from pure OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) as a base, the conductors are coated with pure silver. The impedance, capacitance and inductance are low, but above all, above average, linear and constant over the entire frequency range. The left and right channels are separate and each have two signal cables (symmetrical structure).

In order to avoid harmful electrostatic influences and charges, both are additionally covered with a silver-plated shielding braid. The insulation is made of high quality dielectric materials. Professional two-pin connectors (male and female) are used on the headphone side.
