Progressive Audio A902 – Pure Class-A performance and uncompromising circuitry

The Progressive Audio A902 integrated amplifier was developed with the goal of amplifying the music signal with minimal loss, maximum bandwidth, and complete independence from the connected speaker load. It combines a meticulously engineered circuit design with high-performance materials from the aerospace industry for uncompromising, lifelike music reproduction.

Technological design and circuit concept

The heartbeat of the A902 is its fully symmetrical, modular dual-mono design. The amplifier operates exclusively in pure Class A mode and delivers a true continuous power output of 100 watts. Thanks to its continuous bias current, the perceived dynamics and control are approximately ten times that of conventional Class A/B designs. The A902 drives even extremely inefficient loudspeakers (from 83 dB efficiency) with authority and stability.

Feedback-free bridge output stages with silicon carbide (SiC)

The feedback-free bridge output stages utilize state-of-the-art silicon carbide transistors . These semiconductors are characterized by extremely fast switching speeds and minimal memory effects. They enable impulse-true signal processing and contribute significantly to broadband, distortion-free signal amplification.

Teflon circuit boards for maximum signal purity

Progressive Audio uses Teflon as the base material for its circuit boards – a material primarily used in satellite technology. Teflon's extremely low dielectric constant reduces capacitance losses on the board to an absolute minimum. The result is a phase-linear frequency response from 1 Hz to 1 MHz (±0.1 dB) , which transmits the audio signal to the loudspeakers without level loss or temporal distortion.

Precision control and housing design

Volume control is achieved via a relay-controlled resistor circuit in precise fine increments of 0.75 dB . This guarantees perfect channel balance and prevents the noise that occurs with conventional potentiometers.

The robust housing combines black aluminum with a high-gloss acrylic front. All functions can be controlled either directly on the front of the device or via the included remote control.
