The AVM OVATION AS XL represents the absolute pinnacle of state-of-the-art all-in-one reference amplifiers. The "XL" designation, a Roman numeral, stands for four decades of dedicated development experience in audiophile amplifier design. Developed and meticulously crafted at the AVM factory in Malsch, this system combines the inexhaustible dynamics of a high-performance analog power amplifier with the micrometric precision of cutting-edge digital signal processing and the future-proof AVM X-Stream Engine®.

Unshakeable power supply & analog sovereignty

The AS XL's power foundation is an extremely low-leakage 1,000 VA toroidal transformer with separate windings for all functional groups. Twenty-four selected high-performance MOSFETs and a filter capacitance of over 270,000 µF per channel provide ample current reserves. With an output power of 2 × 550 watts into 4 ohms (2 × 250 watts into 8 ohms), the AS XL drives even extremely demanding loudspeakers with complex impedance curves with absolute composure, spatial stability, and flawless bandwidth up to over 300 kHz.

Consistent DC coupling for absolute signal purity

To guarantee maximum impulse fidelity and phase accuracy, the entire analog signal path of the OVATION AS XL is fully DC-coupled . The elimination of coupling capacitors removes tonal coloration from the signal path. Automatic offset compensation dynamically absorbs DC components, while the dual differential input stage effectively suppresses common-mode interference. An integrated mini power conditioner filters out high-frequency mains interference right at the power input.

Digital precision with ESS 9038 PRO Double-Quad DAC

For digital-to-analog conversion, the AS XL utilizes the AVM S-DAC module based on the flagship ESS 9038 PRO converter. Four DAC channels per stereo channel operate in parallel double-quad configuration, maximizing the signal-to-noise ratio and reducing distortion to a computationally low minimum. It processes PCM signals up to 384 kHz/32-bit and DSD up to DSD256 with uncompromising detail.

AVM X-Stream Engine® & Comprehensive Connectivity

The software-based and online-updatable AVM X-Stream Engine® provides direct access to TIDAL Connect MAX, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect, HighResAudio, web radio, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth 5.0 , and is ROON Ready . AVM RoomConnection® allows the AS XL to be seamlessly integrated into multiroom setups.

Manufactured quality & case design

The 50 kg, solid aluminum housing (430 × 250 × 420 mm) effectively protects the sensitive electronics from mechanical vibrations. The front panel features a dimmable OLED graphic display with intelligent brightness and proximity sensors. The AS XL is available in silver, brushed black, and the exclusive CELLINI Edition with a hand-polished chrome front. It is delivered in a professional flight case , including the solid aluminum RC 5 remote control.
