A 200 power amplifier

The goal of the A 200 power amplifier is to combine maximum performance as an amplifier with audiophile sound characteristics. On the one hand, this means 250 watts of continuous power per channel, on the other hand, this power does not lead to a reduction in fine detail, resolution and detail dynamics. Their heat sinks are a technical necessity and a design statement in one: They impressively display every watt of power and ensure efficient heat dissipation - even under maximum load. The A 200 power amplifier was developed to either function as a powerful addition to existing systems or, in combination with the 200 Series, to be the powerful end of a perfectly matched chain of audiophile special equipment.

T+A only believes in performance if it can be applied in practice with efficiency and precision. In order to achieve an optimum of sound quality, performance and efficiency, they have developed a completely new circuit topology. It combines T+A's unique HV and high-frequency sine wave power supply technologies with the PURIFI Eigentakt™ output stage technology. This is how it is possible to turn untamed performance into audiophile peak performance. All circuits and circuit boards are designed and implemented by the T+A development team and the PURIFI modules are implemented in them. The damping factor of the A 200 can be lowered if a warmer or softer sound is desired depending on the loudspeakers.

The output stages used in the A 200 are Class D amplifiers with PURIFI Eigentakt™ technology. The platform developed by the Danish technology company is currently the world's leading concept for class D power amplifiers and avoids the disadvantages of previous digital amplifiers. Previous digital amplifier concepts are limited by high load dependency on the impedance of the connected loudspeakers, distortion of the output signal, phase noise and increased harmonic distortion at high power levels. On the other hand, the new concept is characterized by excellent data and is therefore predestined for audiophile use:

• Extremely low THD and intermodulation distortion at all powers
• Exceptionally low noise
• High damping factor
• Clean clipping
• Low losses and high efficiency
• Absolutely linear frequency response up to 60 kHz
• Completely load-independent behavior (see measurement curves 4 + 8 ohms)

power supplies

Despite the efficiency advantage, conventional switched-mode power supplies have the disadvantage of generating disruptive interference that has a lasting negative effect on the sound. In response, T+A uses high-frequency sine-wave power supplies: their pure sine-wave clock and a frequency that is more than double that of conventional power supplies effectively compensate for this interference. Last interferences are eliminated by the intelligent recharging of the built-in T+A filter capacitors. In years of development, T+A engineers have succeeded in developing capacitors that recharge 100,000 times per second - 2,000 times more frequently than ordinary capacitors. This is the only way for them to react to short-term signal jumps and always provide the correct amount of electrical energy. T+A-Sinus power packs are "hard" power packs, they don't break down even under the highest load and supply the output stages with an absolutely constant voltage.

Intelligent Safe Control

The Intelligent Safe Control (ISC) resembles the ABS of a sports car: With its numerous sensors, the microcontroller of the ISC constantly monitors the temperature, load or clipping conditions and intervenes intelligently to return the parameters to their regular level.

HV circuit topology

The worldwide unique HV circuit technology is used in the voltage amplifier stage. The high operating voltage resulting from the circuit concept ensures extremely linear reproduction of the audio signals and allows the dynamics of each recording to be reproduced in a lifelike manner - without compromises or restrictions. Hard negative feedback, which sensitively disturbs the sound, is also excluded.

frequency response

The frequency response is completely linear up to 60 kHz and absolutely independent of the loudspeaker connected. The traces show that there is no difference in frequency response between a 4 ohm speaker load and no speaker load.
