In addition to the recently introduced MCD350 AC SACD/CD player, McIntosh is now also introducing a new SACD/CD drive.

The MCT500 AC transport is a fully digital representative of its class and features a total of four digital outputs: XLR, coaxial, optical, and the McIntosh-exclusive MCT connector. The first three allow it to be connected to any high-end component with standard digital inputs and an integrated DAC.

For SACD playback, the drive must be connected to a McIntosh model with an MCT input using the included MCT/DIN cable. This currently includes the D1100, C2600, C52, C47, and D150 preamplifiers, the MA9000, MA8900, MA7200, and MA5300 integrated amplifiers, and the MAC7200 receiver.

The MCT500 AC plays all common disc types, including CD-R/RW and DVD-R, with the dual laser pickup ensuring optimal reading of every disc. New compared to the previous model is a USB input, conveniently located on the front panel. This supports common file formats such as AAC, AIFF, ALAC, DSD (up to DSD128), FLAC, MP3, WAV (up to 24-bit/192 kHz), and WMA, which, of course, can also be easily read from self-created CD/DVD discs.

The MCT500 AC reads CD audio data at twice the speed, which benefits, among other things, improved error correction. Disc handling is smooth and quiet thanks to a solid transport system with a precision die-cast aluminum tray. A digital servo motor also ensures fast, quiet, and smooth operation.
