DA-07X – High-resolution D/A converter with USB

The DA-07X is a modern standalone DAC that adopts the slim housing format of the proven DA-06 and boasts highly advanced digital signal processing.

Based on technologies of the flagship D-10X, the DA-07X offers a central interface for modern HiFi systems with USB and digital inputs.

Precise dual-mono DAC architecture

At its heart is a dual-mono configuration with ROHM BD34301EKV "MUS-IC" DAC chips, which are already used in Luxman's current top-of-the-line models. Each differential output is processed separately, ensuring detailed, dynamic, and spatially precise reproduction.

The USB input supports PCM signals up to 768 kHz / 32-bit and DSD up to 22.5 MHz. S/PDIF supports PCM up to 192 kHz / 24-bit and DSD (DoP) up to 2.8 MHz. Full MQA decoding is integrated. A low-jitter, high-precision clock module ensures a clean digital signal foundation.

Analog output stage

The analog section operates fully symmetrically. Discrete buffer circuits simultaneously handle the low-pass filtering and effortlessly drive subsequent amplifier stages. Separate processing of the channels in dual-mono mode guarantees maximum separation, clarity, and musicality.

Switchable filter modes for PCM/MQA and DSD allow the analog output characteristics to be tailored to personal listening preferences. Additional features such as low-jitter functions, switchable digital outputs, and phase inversion ensure optimal integration into any system.

Digital inputs and outputs

  • USB input: High-resolution connection to PC, Mac or network transports
  • Coaxial: 2×
  • Visually: 2×
  • AES/EBU XLR: 1× balanced
  • Analog outputs: 1× balanced (XLR) / 1× unbalanced (RCA)
  • DD converter function: Looping through digital signals to coaxial or optical outputs

The connectors are generously sized to accommodate high-quality cables and support both classic and modern hi-fi systems.

Power supply and building technology

The DA-07X uses a large-dimensioned OI-type mains transformer, separate voltage regulators for individual circuit blocks, and custom-made 10,000 µF filter capacitors. High-purity OFC wiring, straight traces, and selected original components ensure a stable, noise-free power supply.

Housing and ergonomics

  • Front: Sandblasted white with a large, high-resolution OLED display
  • Display: 4-step dimmer, auto-off function
  • Shielding: Digital and electromagnetic interference is effectively blocked.
  • Base plate: Extra thick steel sheet (3.6 mm) for increased mass and stability
  • Feet: Cast iron with density gradient for vibration protection
  • AC input: Securely mounted for heavy IEC cables

Integration into HiFi systems

The DA-07X is ideal as a central D/A converter for demanding digital playback. It pairs perfectly with network transports like the NT-07X, classic amplifiers, or high-quality headphone amplifiers like the P-750u MKII. Its combination of modern digital signal processing and a meticulously designed analog output stage makes it a key component of future-proof audio systems.
