BROEN – NETWORK STREAMER

BROEN is Ferrum Audio's meticulously developed answer to the question of how a modern network streamer should be designed: technically uncompromising, flexibly integrable, and with a consistent focus on the quality of the digital signal. Instead of simply adapting existing platforms, the entire signal architecture was redesigned. The result is a streaming transport that processes digital audio data from the network to the DAC with maximum precision while consistently minimizing interference.

At its core is the proprietary SERCE DDC module, which functions as a digital output stage. It handles the FPGA-based reclocking processing, ensuring extremely low-jitter digital signals. Simultaneously, BROEN completely separates the input and output sections. All audio outputs are galvanically isolated, effectively reducing interference from the network or connected devices. This architecture creates optimal conditions for high-quality D/A converters, making BROEN a premium digital source for demanding hi-fi and high-end systems.

VERSATILE STREAMING

Ferrum relies on Volumio as its streaming platform, thus offering access to one of the most powerful streaming ecosystems on the market. Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, AirPlay, UPnP/DLNA, internet radio, and Bluetooth playback are all supported. Furthermore, the BROEN features CD playback and ripping, multi-room operation with up to six synchronized zones, AI-powered SuperSearch, Infinity Playback, and comprehensive album and artist information. Control is conveniently managed via apps for iOS and Android, any web browser, or directly through the controls on the device itself.

BROEN offers maximum flexibility for your music collection. Music can be played from USB storage devices, NAS systems, or an internally upgradeable M.2 NVMe SSD. All common audio formats are supported, including FLAC, WAV, ALAC, APE, DSD, AAC, MP3, and WMA.

STABLE NETWORK CONNECTION

Ferrum also takes an unusually consistent approach to network connectivity. In addition to dual-band Wi-Fi and classic Ethernet, the BROEN offers an SFP slot, allowing the use of either RJ45 or fiber optic modules. The optical network connection, in particular, enables complete galvanic isolation from the home network and reduces electrical interference to a minimum – a feature especially valued in high-quality digital networks.

The diverse connectivity options make BROEN a universal digital player. In addition to AES/EBU, coaxial S/PDIF, optical S/PDIF, and I²S via HDMI, two dedicated USB DAC outputs (USB-A and USB-C) are available. The I²S interface features a configurable pinout, allowing for optimal integration with numerous external DACs.

PERFECT WITH FERRUM WANDL

BROEN works particularly closely with the Ferrum WANDLA. Using the proprietary Ferrum Streaming Control Technology (FSCT), track information is displayed directly on the WANDLA's screen. Playback can be conveniently controlled via its touchscreen or remote control, allowing both devices to function as a single, integrated unit.

Additionally, BROEN can be enhanced to an even higher performance level with the Ferrum HYPSOS power supply. Via the proprietary Ferrum Power Link (FPL) with 4TSD voltage sensing, both devices communicate continuously and dynamically optimize the power supply. This ensures that BROEN operates under optimal electrical conditions and fully realizes its sonic potential.

Thanks to over-the-air firmware updates and its plugin-compatible software platform, BROEN remains up-to-date in the long term. New features can be easily integrated, ensuring the streamer supports future developments in the streaming sector.
